Lab grade geochemical, elemental, mineralogical, and advanced

mud gas analysis can now be obtained in near real time from your

well site. We provide the data and interpretations that can help

you select high potential locations, increase efficiencies during

completions, and maximize your production potential.

Traditionally, core analysis has been the go-to solution to evaluate

reservoir potential. The drilling, recovery and actual analysis of a

core is expensive and the data usually covers a very small portion of

the well bore. Although this method is ideal, is the cost worth it? For

a fraction of the cost, we can provide in kind cuttings analysis for an

entire well bore. Getting your data in a timely manner is important.

The time needed for lab analysis may take more time than your

drilling program allows. Our services give you another option.

Now more than ever, efficiency is key. Integrating Source Rock Data

(Hawk), Mineralogy (XRD), Elemental (XRF), Fluid Sensitivity (CST)

and Advanced Mud Gas Analysis (Real Time Spectral, Mass Spec,

FID), will help you avoid drilling hazards, focus on optimal targets

for production, and establish brittleness and wellbore positioning.

Using Impac at your well site ensures you have the data you need,

to make the most informed decisions you can, before production

begins.

Impac Exploration Service’s Geoscience Division provides accurate and

detailed analysis to evaluate wells while drilling. In the drilling industry, time

is just as valuable as the resources. That is why our Geoscience services

provide near real-time results on site, helping clients make informed

decisions during the drilling process.

Proper sample collection and preparation are the most important steps

when it comes to analyzing samples. At Impac, each sample is prepped

to the highest standard with the focus to provide the most accurate data

possible. No matter if your samples are being prepped in the field or in our

lab, we take the time to make sure it is done right, the first time.

Technical staff is deployed to the field for each well to provide fast

interpretive analysis. This allows for critical information to be shared while

the well is being drilled. Data can easily be correlated to cores, wireline, and

mud logs due to our collection process onsite.

Impac’s services are not limited to onsite. We are able to provide the same

level of analysis on historical samples in our lab. We take a great amount

of pride in the turnaround time that we provide on samples processed in

our lab.

Our dedicated team of experts have experience in every major basin, and

we are focused on improving operations on and off the well site through

scientific and technological advancements.

LATEST TECHNOLOGYOur Geoscience Division is equipped with the latest in technology to provide

a comprehensive picture of a well site, giving clients accurate, near real-

time data to inform their decision-making.

Impac Exploration Services clients enjoy access to the following suite of

services:

PROGRAM PYROLYSIS: HAWK

The HAWK instrument performs rapid and accurate analysis on cuttings,

core and outcrop samples and can be used to evaluate conventional and

unconventional petroleum resources. It provides information on pay

zones, secondary pay zones, migration, kerogen typing and quantity of

hydrocarbons.

Analysis provides:

HYDROCARBONS IN PLACE (S1)

HYDROCARBON POTENTIAL (S2)

ORGANIC CARBON DIOXIDE (S3)

RESIDUAL CARBON (S4)

TOTAL ORGANIC CARBON (TOC)

THERMAL MATURITY (TMAX)

X-RAY DIFFRACTION: MINERALOGY

This technology uses lab-grade instruments to identify and quantify the composition

of rock cuttings. It provides precise answers for completions, including locations to

land horizontally in production zones, brittleness to develop more efficient fracturing

plans, data on possible fluid-sensitive materials and peace of mind knowing where

you are in the well bore.

Analysis provides:

QUANTITATIVE MINERALOGY

QUARTZ TO PYRITE, PLUS ANY UNKNOWNS

TOTAL CLAYS

ACCURATELY DEFINE FORMATION TOPS

BRITTLENESS INDEX

LAB-GRADE GONIOMETER INSTRUMENT

X-ray fluorescence uses trace elements to evaluate well bore placements in

homogenous zones. It provides more accurate gamma ray in horizontal vs. wireline,

information on wellbore placement in horizontals, brittleness to help completion

decisions and modeled mineralogy.

Analysis provides:

X-RAY FLUORESCENCE: ELEMENTAL

COMPOSITIONAL MEASUREMENT OF 31 ELEMENTS(12 MAJORS/19 TRACES)

RESERVOIR STRATIGRAPHY

PALEOREDOX AND PALEOPRODUCTIVITY PROXIES

ELEMENTAL SIGNATURE OF PAY ZONE

CAPILLARY SUCTION TIMER

The CST determines the colloidal properties of clay suspensions. It is used to

characterize shales and to optimize the electrolyte concentration in drilling

fluids for minimizing its effect on shale formations.

Analysis provides:

BOREHOLE STABILIZATION TO DETERMINE THEBEST ELECTROLYTE AND POLYMER TO USE FOR MAXIMUMSHALE SWELLING INHIBITION

COLLOIDAL SHALE PROPERTIES TO STUDY THE REDUCTION OFPERMEABILITY OF THE FORMATION AROUND THE WELLBORE

EVALUATION OF THE EFFECTS OF SOLUBLE SALTS ANDPOLYMERS ON CUTTING

Geoscience services at Impac Exploration Services have applications in all areas

of well site evaluation, from exploration to production and reservoirs. The data

is more accurate, more affordable and more valuable because it can be analyzed

and applied in near real-time.

EXPLORATIONOur geoscience services provide data to locate the best zones of production.

Historical data can be used with current drilling operations to provide a

comprehensive understanding of leases and basins.

PRODUCTIONProduction services provide information showing primary and secondary

pay zones, detailing zones of brittleness to help accurately place staging

fractures and stimulation while avoiding ductile zones. These services also

show migration, kerogen typing and quantity of hydrocarbons. Our production

services can be applied to any reservoir type.

RESERVOIRSOur services can be applied to conventional and unconventional reservoirs,

including high temp and carbonate reservoirs.
