Newark Lodge 2281 Dear Members, I am sure you will agree that time passes so quickly. It is hard to believe we are now halfway through our Elks membership year. I am proud of what we have accomplished so far and look forward to what we will do together in the next 6 months. What we do best is helping our community, children and Veterans. Using part of the Gratitude Grant, our Lodge recently delivered $450 of food to Pleasantville Elementary School’s Food Pantry and for our veterans, we are collecting daily need items to be distributed at the VA Hospital. Be sure to check out the list of items needed in this newsletter or on our Facebook page. There is a tote in the lobby to deposit your items. We are all very proud to have hosted the Brotherhood Ride last month. A big thank you to everyone who helped get ready for this; and to those that helped prepare and serve food to the riders and to everyone who came out to support the riders as they arrived and departed. They loved our lodge, our decorations (thank you Carmen Demby), the food (Andy Hallett and crew) and most importantly all the members. I would also like to thank everyone who helped with or attended our Crab Feast and PER Steak Dinner in September. It is so good seeing so many members participate in our activities and events. Besides Thursday night Bingo in the hall, Flip Five on Fridays, monthly Line Dancing and Karaoke, we have some fun activities planned in October. Be sure to check the calendar for dates. ELVIS and the Memphis Mafia will be in the house…back by popular demand! An Octoberfest Dinner…traditional German food! The 2 nd Annual Trunk or Treat, followed by a bonfire. Come and see the creativity and vote your favorite “trunk”. This event was very popular last year and fun was had by both kids and adults alike! Adult Halloween Party and Deck Closing…get those costumes ready! I am happy to say that we have had many new members join this past year. If you are a newly initiated member, welcome! I hope you enjoy this newsletter and I hope you will consider volunteering…it’s what make our lodge great! 2021 - 2022 ELKS OFFICERS JR Biddison Exalted Ruler Tom Smith Leading Knight Jean Amundsen Loyal Knight Judy Snyder Lecturing Knight Roseann Cinclair Secretary Peggy Morris Treasurer John Davis Tiler Beth Biddison Esquire Carrie Barber Chaplain Richard Cinclair Inner Guard TRUSTEES Florian Gargula 5 Year Trustee John Viola 4 Year Trustee Paul Amundsen 3 Year Trustee James Nolan 2 Year Trustee Rich Mayes 1 Year Trustee Fraternally, JR Biddison [email protected]760-583-8948 Let’s Work Together 2021 October 2021 Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Home of PGER Paul Helsel

Dear Members,
I am sure you will agree that time passes so quickly. It is hard
to believe we are now halfway through our Elks membership
year. I am proud of what we have accomplished so far and
look forward to what we will do together in the next 6 months.
What we do best is helping our community, children and
Veterans. Using part of the Gratitude Grant, our Lodge
recently delivered $450 of food to Pleasantville Elementary
School’s Food Pantry and for our veterans, we are collecting
daily need items to be distributed at the VA Hospital. Be sure
to check out the list of items needed in this newsletter or on our
Facebook page. There is a tote in the lobby to deposit your items.
We are all very proud to have hosted the Brotherhood Ride last month. A big thank you to
everyone who helped get ready for this; and to those that helped prepare and serve food to
the riders and to everyone who came out to support the riders as they arrived and departed.
They loved our lodge, our decorations (thank you Carmen Demby), the food (Andy Hallett and
crew) and most importantly all the members.
I would also like to thank everyone who helped with or attended our Crab Feast and PER
Steak Dinner in September. It is so good seeing so many members participate in our activities
and events.
Besides Thursday night Bingo in the hall, Flip Five on Fridays, monthly Line Dancing and
Karaoke, we have some fun activities planned in October. Be sure to check the calendar for
dates.
ELVIS and the Memphis Mafia will be in the house…back by popular demand!
Wear a mask only if you are not vaccinated and where required
Get Your Vaccine: de.gov/getmyvaccine
Those who are not fully vaccinated should continue to wear masks when they’re around others outside their immediate household, according to CDC guidance. Masks are still required in: state buildings,
public transit, planes, schools and child care, health care facilities, and congregate settings. The CDC guidance advises
that fully vaccinated people can stop distancing and wearing masks in most places indoors and outdoors, except in certain crowded and congregate settings.
Sickness and Distress During these stressful times, if you know of a member who is sick, or has passed away, please fill out a card
on the SICK and DISTRESSED Board located in the lounge or email Judy Snyder at:
Where events appear on the Lodge calendar, factors may arise that can impact the Lodge and scheduled events.
