Overview of the Situation
Even though the Peninsular Malaysia are witnessing
recovery phase, the situation does not apply the same for
Sarawak. To date, 864 evacuees have been shifted to 15
evacuation centers in three main areas due to the flood
disaster
1. Bintulu
2. Samarahan
3. Serian
Based on METMalaysia, it is been forecasted that rain
would continuously occur in the areas mentioned above.
Due to that, flood situation might worsen.
Assistance in terms of hygiene kits and meals ready to eat
are needed to alleviate the situation of the evacuees.

Relief Aid Activities by MERCY Malaysia
Pahang – distributed 178 cleaning kit sets to beneficiaries in
12 locations.

Pahang – distributed sanitisers, face masks and cleaning kits to
Chenor residents and
to ensure safety and hygiene.
Pahang – distributed five hand sanitisers and five boxes of face

Pahang – assistance such as Meals Ready to Eat (MRE), hand
sanitiser, and boxes of
face masks were distributed to Kampung Paya Rambutan,
Pahang.
Pahang – distributed 16 bottles of sanitizers and 60 bottles of
mineral water to
beneficiaries in Pusat Kuarantin & Rawatan SUKPA, Indera
Mahkota, Kuantan.
Sabah – distributed 82 Food Packs contributed by Keysight
Technologies and Bursa

Water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) and Health
1. Supplies of facemasks and hand sanitisers to help
reduce the risks of COVID-19.
2. Cleaning kits, cleaning bleach, disinfecting wipes to
ensure hygiene.
3. MERCY Malaysia to deliver 500 additional hygiene
kits to areas in Johor.
4. Rebuilding latrines in the affected areas.
Food and nutrition
Continuous supply of nutritious food such as breakfast
oat mix, ready-to-eat meal and food packs to be
distributed to more far-reaching communities in the
affected areas.
Damage assessment and shelter repair
1. MERCY Malaysia’s Technical Team would be
carrying out detail damage assessment in areas in
Benta, Raub, Temerloh and Maran, Pahang.
2. To identify needs for shelter repair, kitchen kits and
other recovery aid.

Logistics support
Logistics support in delivering relief items safely to
flood victims, especially living in hard to reach areas.

Assessment would be carried out in schools as well to
identify the school utilities needed, for example; class
room and computer lab equipment.
Mental health and psychosocial support services
(MHPSS)
MHPSS services are provided for front liners who
have been monitoring and assisting the situation since
the flood disaster.
