They can use it to steal your identity or to scam. Don’t let anyone keep the entry confirmation number from you. You need that number to check the results yourself. Fill out the entry form yourself. It’s free and so easy to do. Go to dvlottery.state.gov. We do NOT work with consultants and they have NO special access.
