We are excited to have such talented teams from all over the country come to Salem, Oregon. Tournament games will be played at surrounding high school fields as well as the Wallace Marine Park Softball Complex, which has five natural, lit fields. This breathtaking riverfront park is owned by the City of Salem and is maintained by Parks Operations staff.
Inside this tournament packet, you will find important information for your teams about registration submissions, deadlines, the tournament schedule, accommodations while you’re here, and rules and regulations governing the tournament and use of the park. We ask that you read over all of the information carefully in order to understand tournament procedures.

Please note, entry fee is $650 and the gate entry fee is $450. Payment for gate fee is due up front. Spectators are free to come and go throughout the tournament at no cost.

TEAM PHOTOS Qualifying teams are also required to submit a digital, color team photo and a team roster (including names, positions, and uniform numbers) before the deadline for inclusion in the official tournament program and other promotional materials.
Use the appropriate submission form and send all submissions electronically. Images may be submitted on CD or via email attachment or download link. Do not send color copies or printouts of photos.
Teams that do not have a team photo may send a team logo or a clear photo of their team’s uniform jersey instead. The picture must be at least 3.5 inches (tall) by 5 inches (wide) at a minimum resolution of 300 ppi in JPEG format.
Photos and information received after the submission deadline may not be included in the program.

TEAM PICTURES Photos will be taken during the week of the tournament at Wallace Marine Park Softball Complex.
TEAM GIFT EXCHANGE In the spirit of good sportsmanship, teams will exchange gifts with each team member of the opposing team after the end of their first pool play game (approximately 18 gifts).
Gifts should be inexpensive, thoughtful, and based on the kind of gifts the girls themselves would like to receive. The following are a few possible gift ideas: items representing the team’s home state, team pins, magnets, key chains, beads, jewelry, disposable cameras, autograph or photo albums, lip balm, headbands, shirts, mix CDs, and bubbles.
PIN EXCHANGE Team members are encouraged to have pins of their team’s logo or state to trade with players from other teams during the week.
TEAM PRACTICE Team practice fees are $27 per hour with a 2-hour per day maximum. Practice games are also available; fees are $70 per team and include two umpires. Contact Billy Powers or Lindsey Huston at 503-588-6261 or [email protected] to schedule. Requests must be made by July 16, 2020.
SKILLS CONTEST 1:00 p.m. - 5:30 pm on Sunday, July 26, 2020 Location: Wallace Marine Park Softball Complex.
MANAGER’S MEETING One team manager or team representative must be present at the manager’s meeting. A maximum of two coaches per team will be admitted free of charge. A ticket for one extra person per team may be purchased for $15 at the door before Thursday, July 16, 2020.

OFFICIAL RULES All playing rules and regulations shall be governed by the USA Official Rules of Softball, 2020 Edition.
FORMAT Two pool-play games followed by double-elimination bracket play.
GAME TIMES The game times will be listed on the official tournament bracket. Teams need to be prepared to play at the assigned time. Failure to do so may result in a forfeit.
DUGOUTS The team at the top of the bracket will use the first base dugout. The team at the bottom of the bracket will use the third base dugout.
LINE-UP CARDS Tournament officials will provide official line-up cards for each team. An official line-up card must be submitted to the Official Scorekeeper at least 30 minutes prior to your scheduled game, at the coin toss, to determine the home team. The coin toss shall be completed by the Tournament Directors or site coordinator at each playing site.
INFIELD PRACTICE No infield practice is permitted during tournament play, and warm-up is allowed only in designated areas. Hitting or pitching on the grass is strictly not allowed at any time.
RUN RULE A “run rule” of 15 after three innings, 12 after four innings, or 8 after five innings shall be in effect (USA Rule 5, Section 9).
DRESS CODE Players on a team shall properly wear uniforms that are alike in color, trim, and style (USA Rule 3, Section 6, A–G).
Coaches must be neatly attired and dressed alike or in a team uniform in accordance with the color code of the team.
CONDUCT Managers and coaches are expected to have complete control of their players both on and off the playing field in accordance with the USA Official Rules of Softball, 2020 Edition.
PROTESTS The tournament committee will rule on all protests. Proper protest procedures are included in USA Rule 9.
AWARDS Awards shall be in accordance with Article 306 of the USA Procedural Manual.

INCLEMENT WEATHER In the event of inclement weather, the game must be resumed at the exact point where it was suspended. It is the manager’s responsibility to report to the Tournament Director for rescheduling information.
In the event the tournament cannot be completed within the scheduled timeframe, the official order of finish will be determined in accordance with Article 310 of the USA Code, 2020 Edition.
SOUVENIRS Souvenirs will be available at the Wallace Marine Softball Complex throughout the week and weekend.
PROHIBITED ITEMS The following are prohibited in the softball complex, and an entry gate monitor will be stationed to ensure compliance.
• No outside food, beverages, or energy drinks. Exception: One unopened water bottle or sports drink.
• No coolers, ice chests, or boxes. Exception: One team cooler with unopened water bottles, sports drinks, and fresh fruit.
• No cans, glass bottles, or fireworks.
• No animals or pets. Exception: Certified service animals.
• No heelies, large riding toys, or distracting, noise-making toys.
PROHIBITED ACTIVITIES No bicycling, skateboarding, or rollerblading.
NO SMOKING Smoking or vaping is not allowed in the Wallace Marine Park Softball Complex, Wallace Marine Park and parking lots, or any City of Salem park at any time. Alcohol, smoking, or use of tobacco products are not allowed at any of the middle or high schools.
