2020 -23 Strategic Plan Goals
Engagement
To improve student agency.
Cast your mind forward to VCE and
beyond. What learning habits do
you want your child to have?
Agency – Enhancing opportunities
for students to direct and take
responsibility for their learning,
creating independent and self-
regulating learners.
There are compelling reasons to
amplify student agency. When
students have a strong sense of
agency, starting with more
commitment and a strengthened
focus on their learning, a positive
cycle of learning is generated.
Learner
Resilience
Engagement To improve student agency - How?
• Stretch – Students learn to use teacher feedback and their own
learning data to set regular goals using ‘I will’ statements.
• Reflect – Learn to monitor progress towards their goals with their
teacher. Learn to co-identify the evidence in their work to
demonstrate they have achieved their goal.
• Achieve - Use ‘I can’ statements to reflect goal attainment.
Explain their role in the process of co-constructed goal development with
their teacher.
Goal achievement Reflection and thinking about what comes next
Engagement
To improve student agency.
• Student Goals
• Student Goal setting - ‘I will’ and ‘I can’ statements will be further developed in 2020.
• Students will learn to develop their goals more regularly.
• Goal setting commences in Prep and is developed through each student’s education at our school.
• Goals are guided by the teacher and informed by three sources of data.
• Data includes learning evidence such as pre and post assessments from sources such Essential Assessments (Math), Writing pre and post assessments and Running Records of Reading. It also includes teacher observations and tasks designed to evaluate learning achievement in specific areas.
• Preps step into goals setting in Semester 2 (Term 3 & 4).
Engagement
To improve student agency.
Seesaw Purpose:
• To provide regular, consistent, timely feedback to parents and students of learning progress using assessed examples of student work.
• To inform student reporting.
• A minimum of 2 ‘Student Assessment Tasks’ are provided digitally to parents each term.
• Creates regular opportunities for parents to view examples of their child’s work, together with an assessment rubric, teacher comment and student comment.
• Parents are encouraged to discuss each task with their child and provide feedback to further support learning.
• In 2020 we will continue to develop the use of Seesaw as a tool to enhance engagement.
• How to ‘Sign up’ – Seesaw HPS Parents Guide.
