We inspire campers ages 4–17 to discover

local habitats, connect with the natural

landscape, and develop great friendships—

a tradition we’ve maintained since 1956.

We seek to foster a lifelong bond between

campers and the land through carefully

designed camp activities and outdoor

exploration. At the heart of our camp are

three leading concepts:

Community Campers feel free to try new things and make new

friends in our welcoming, supportive community.

Interdependence Campers learn about natural cycles and the

interconnectedness of people, agriculture, wildlife,

and habitats.

Stewardship Campers learn how they can care for the world

around them as they discover the importance of

wild spaces and the benefits of sustainable farming.

Welcome to Drumlin Farm Camp!

Our camper loved the

friendships and the outdoor

adventures. One of the most

amazing things she said was

how great the group dynamics

were in her hiking group. This

was especially impressive

because the kids were all very

different. I credit the counselors

for facilitating this!

THE PROGRAMDevelop your leadership skills by

working alongside our counselors,

and sharing your love and knowledge

of nature with younger campers. Each

session you’ll be assigned an age

group to work with for the full one to

two weeks, enabling you to develop

bonds with campers as you assist

with camp programming.

Daily meetings will give CITs a

chance to create a community,

share experiences, develop job

skills, and learn more about nature

and agriculture. Ongoing feedback

from our staff will help you find and

develop your individual teaching and

leadership styles as you create new

lessons and assist with games, songs,

crafts, and wacky camp fun. In addition

to being a great résumé builder, all hours

spent volunteering may be able to count

toward community service requirements

(varies by town).

CITs develop skills including:. Problem-solving. Organization & group management. Leadership. Listening & communication. Safety awareness. Team- and community-building

CIT TrainingTo provide the fullest experience, we

host a mandatory CIT training June

25–26. During that training, you’ll learn

about child development, safety, and

best practices for working at camp.

Camp staff lead trainings and offer

mentorship to CITs to

supplement their

development. Plus,

we’ll have a

campfire and

s’mores!

Counselors-in-TrainingEntering Grades 9–12

12

Commitment A two-session commitment is required

to participate. Additional sessions may

be attended at no charge. CIT sessions

overlap with our three two-week Nature

Camp sessions, and one Farm Mania

session (August 10–14).

CAMP STAFFOur camp staff is comprised of

dedicated and mature educators,

naturalists, and college students

who are looking for more than "just

a summer job." They have experience

working with youth, knowledge of (and

a passion for) nature and farming, and

a deep commitment to sharing that

connection with children.

Many of our counselors are camp

alumni who help foster a shared

love of our sanctuary and belief that

it is a special place where magical

things happen. Our tight-knit staff

community creates a more cohesive

and enjoyable experience for our

campers. It’s easier to pass on a smile

when you have one yourself!

TRAININGFrom day one, we foster a sense of

community and compassion amongst

our counselors. Each counselor brings

something unique and valuable to the

camp experience, and by nurturing

their varying teaching styles and ideas,

we enrich our camp, year after year.

Counselors are trained in child

development and supervision, health

and safety procedures, natural history,

farm animal care, and environmental

education best practices. All are

CPR and First-Aid certified and have

undergone background and reference

checks. In addition, we have a licensed

nurse at Drumlin Farm, access to

an on-call doctor, and EMS services

within one mile.

13

Meet Our

Camp Staff

I just wanted to say that I am thoroughly impressed with the quality

of staff you had working with kids this summer. Their kindness and

respectful and positive language when speaking to children is much

appreciated and makes the overall experience awesome.

A fee of $25 per camper will be charged for incomplete or late forms and waivers.

CAMPER REQUIREMENTS Campers are expected to meaningfully participate in age-appropriate activities, including outdoor exploration and nature study. To ensure a successful camp experience, please discuss any pertinent information regarding your child’s special needs with the Camp Director. We can accommodate on a case-by-case basis in order to establish the best strategy for a great summer camp experience. All campers must follow stated behavior expectations and safety rules.

The Camp Director reserves the right to dismiss a camper when, in their judgment, the camper’s behavior interferes with the rights of others or the smooth functioning of the group or activity, or violates the camp’s behavior policy. In such cases no refunds will be provided. If you have any questions regarding your child’s ability to participate in our camp program, please contact the Camp Director.

CAMP LICENSE Our camp complies with the regulations of the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (105 CMR 430) and is licensed by the Lincoln and Sudbury Boards of Health.

ACA ACCREDITATION We are proud to be accredited by the American Camp Association. Developed exclusively for the camp industry, this nationally recognized program focuses on program quality, health and safety, management, and camp operations.

CAMP POLICY REQUESTS You may request copies of our background check, health care, discipline, bullying, and grievance policies at any time.

BUDDY REQUESTS One buddy request per camper will be honored when possible. Both campers must be the same age, and both must request each other. All buddy requests must be made in writing at least one week prior to the first day of camp. Please indicate on your registration form if you would like your camper to be placed with a friend of the same age. We are unable to accommodate buddy requests on the first day of camp.

CARPOOL REQUESTS If you would like to be added to the carpool list, please check the appropriate box on your registration form, and your information will be shared with other interested families. Carpool lists will be distributed by email on June 1.

CAMP CONTACT INFORMATION If you have any questions or concerns regarding camp or your child’s attendance at camp, please contact the camp office, at 781-259-2244, or the Camp Director, at 781-259-2223.

Mass Audubon protects more than 38,000 acres

of land throughout Massachusetts, saving birds and

other wildlife, and making nature accessible to all. As

Massachusetts’ largest nature conservation nonprofit,

we welcome more than a half million visitors a year to

our wildlife sanctuaries and nature centers. Today, Mass

Audubon is a nationally recognized environmental

education leader, offering thousands of camp, school,

and adult programs. With more than 135,000 members

and supporters, we advocate on Beacon Hill and

beyond, and conduct conservation research to preserve

the natural heritage of our beautiful state. We welcome

you to explore a nearby sanctuary, find inspiration, and

get involved. Learn how at massaudubon.org.

My child enjoyed everything! I don’t know what you

all did, but it was delightful to come to pick up a

child who was calm and happy. At peace with himself

and the world. You all are doing something right!
