In Memoriam

In September of 2019, New England square dance lost a very active caller and great supporter of our activity. Jim DeNigris was active on the New England Co-Operation Committee as its Chairman, in the New England Council of Callers Association as a caller at all levels and as Co-Chairman of the 62nd New England Square & Round Dance Convention coming up in Hyannis, MA. He received the Yankee Clipper Award in 2016 as recognition of both his square dancing and community activities. There are several positions in this book that were held by Jim. Notations are placed for updated information as soon as those offices are filled.

Jim will be greatly missed!

* Furnish liaison between the Square Dance Callers of New England, represented by the New England Council of Callers Association (NECCA); the dancers of New England, represented by the Eastern District Square and Round Dance Association (EDSARDA); and the Round Dance Leaders of New England, represented by the New England Council of Round Dance Teachers Associations (NECORTA). * Select site and award annual New England Square and Round Dance Convention. Establish convention policies and provide guidance to the general convention committee. * Discuss and recommend possible solutions to problems common to EDSARDA, NECCA, and NECORTA. * To provide an open forum for the presentation of ideas to improve the quality, quantity and longevity of the New England Square and Round Dance program.

FOR DISTINGUISHED SERVICE TO SQUARE & ROUND DANCING IN NEW ENGLAND

Nominations for the Yankee Clipper Award for Distinguished Service to

Square/Round Dancing in New England will be judged upon the following criteria:

a. The Nominee shall have been active a minimum of ten years in this New England activity.

b. That during this time the dedicated service to square/round dancing has been of an exemplary nature.

c. That the Nominee is a ‘complete’ person; that is, his/her total life brings credit to our activity.

d. Normally this Award shall be considered a partner award. Service and activities of the partner when applicable shall be considered.

e. Nominations shall be confidential and not discussed with the Nominee except as cleared by the Awards Committee in advance of such discussion.

f. There shall be no announcement of the Award Recipient until the Award has been made publicly.

g. The decisions of the Awards Committee are final, binding and not subject to review by any other authority.

h. In making this Award, it shall be understood that the CO-OPeration Committee is acting for square and round dancers in EDSARDA, callers in NECCA, and round dance teachers in NECORTA.
