Welcome Attendees

As Chair of the AASHTO Committee on Transportation System Operations, I am proud to welcome you to the

2019 Joint Annual Meeting of the Committee on Transpor-tation System Management and Operations, Committee on Transportation System Security and Resilience, and Subcom-mittee on Risk Management! I would also like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the Wyoming Department of Transporta-tion for hosting this meeting.

The leadership from all three committees have been work-ing with AASHTO staff to prepare for this event, and we have

scheduled an exciting and interesting program of breakout educational sessions and enjoyable activities. We hope your visit will be informative and that you have a little fun during your stay.

This is an exciting time in our industry. Expectations are high, and accountability is demanded. We all face ever-greater opportunities in transportation, ranging from adopting new technologies, to incorporating fresh ideas and perspectives, to embrac-ing new generations of workers. It’s imperative that our efforts in operations, security, risk, and resilience keep pace with those opportunities.

Each of us has the same mission: To plan, build, and operate a resilient and secure transportation infrastructure.

It is my hope that this event enables us to share that mission by exchanging ideas, solving problems, and setting goals for improving the transportation system and providing a higher level of service to taxpayers in each of our states and across the nation.

Jennifer Cohan

Secretary, Delaware Department of Transportation
