We are so pleased you have chosen to join us at the 2019 Florida Sports Summit! Sports industry executives from governmental agencies and the business community have much to share and learn from one another.

Sports is a Big Deal in Florida. You’ve heard the figures: In 2017, Sports Tourism generated $57.4 billion to the state’s economy and created more than 580,000 jobs. But sports is a Big Deal for more than just its impact on our economy.

Sports brings the community together. Sports makes Florida a special place to live. The Florida Sports Foundation, through collaboration with Sports Commissions across the state and our business partners, provides opportunities for everyone – from pee wee ama-teurs and recreational enthusiasts to professional athletes – to realize their dreams.

Sports matter not only to the athletes themselves but also to their families. First, there are the obvious health benefits of remaining active. These include improved energy level, memory, and overall mood. Remaining physically active reduces the risk of high blood pres-sure, heart disease, diabetes, depression, and osteoporosis, among other things.

Second, by participating in – or even just being a fan of – sports, people develop friendships and new communities of common interest.

Sports matter in Florida not only for our residents but also for the hundreds of thousands of people who visit our state each year to take advantage of our sports playground.

Thank you for being a part of our Sports Tourism community.

WELCOME MESSAGE FROM A SPORTS COMMISSIONAs the Vice President of Sports Marketing and Special Events, it is an honor and a pleasure for me to welcome attendees to the Florida Sports Foundation Summit! It’s an exciting time for Visit Panama City Beach and the Florida Sports Foundation as we celebrate our success-es and look to the future.

When it comes to beauty, few beaches can compete with those in the Northwest Florida Panhandle. With its golden sunshine, southern charm, warm hospitality and fun activities like world-class fishing, diving and golf, Northwest Florida is inviting, breathtaking and pro-vides year-round entertainment for all ages.

In addition to sublime beaches and a perfect climate, Panama City Beach boasts state-of-the-art sporting facilities and affordable, world-class accommodations for any team looking for a big win.

The city has proudly hosted Grand Slam Baseball, USFA Fastpitch, the World Softball League, IRONMAN FL and many other competitions and events.

One of the biggest draws for Panama City Beach is the variety of versatile sporting venues. Frank Brown Park, Panama City Beach’s most expansive sports complex, features all the necessary amenities for any successful athletic event.

The future for sporting events in PCB looks as bright and sunny as our beaches. The addition of the Panama City Beach Sports Complex will include outdoor fields for soccer, lacrosse, rugby and football, in addition to five baseball/softball diamonds sized for collegiate-level contests. The second phase will offer a 100,000 square foot indoor sports and recreation center.

In closing, there is no better place than the Northwest Florida Panhandle. Our partners, Pen-sacola Sports and Visit Tallahassee not only extend open arms to visitors but also provided solid support to local communities in the wake of Hurricane Michael.

On behalf of Visit Panama City Beach and Visit the Emerald Coast, we warmly welcome each of you to Destin and extend sincerest wishes for a productive and successful summit!

Sunny Regards,Richard SandersVice President of Sports Marketing and Special Events
