So 40 people this year will have a better life because of YOU!!
I look forward to meeting up with as many of my fellow Lioness as possible this year on my visits and at our various District Meetings and functions. FELLOWSHIP and fun are a big part of why I continue to remain a Lioness and keep active in the District as well as the Multiple District.

District Governor's Message
Greetings to the Lioness in District A-16!
I am honoured to have the opportunity to serve as your District Governor for 2017-2018. At the LCI International Convention in Chicago, our International President Dr. Naresh Aggarwal pre-sented his message to all on the "Power of We". As individuals, we can do so much. When Lion-ess, Lions, and Leos work together, there is no limit to what we can achieve.
As LCI is entering into its 2nd Century, it is an exciting time for Lioness, Lions, and Leos in
serving together for the new LCI Forward Service Framework. This includes service to fight hun-ger, diabetes, paediatric cancer, vision and environment. This is the year for us to show the
"Power of We" by working together!
We are encouraging Lioness Clubs to report their service activities via their sponsoring
Lions Clubs to the District and Lions Clubs International in the Service Activity Reports ( SAR ) in MyLCI website. This will allow the good works done by the Lioness Clubs be recognized through the reports.
I am extremely pleased to have PDG Mike Springford taking up the role as the Lioness
Liaison of the District. He will definitely provide a close link between the District Lioness and Li-ons.
My District Governor project is to support the Effective Speaking Contest programme of
A-16. This great programme provides opportunities to stimulate self-expression and independent thinking among participating students. My objectives are to promote it to all clubs, to raise funds for it, and to prepare our District to host the Multiple District "A" contest in the future. I will be sell-ing raffle tickets for the programme throughout various meetings during the year. The raffle draw will be at our District Convention in April 2018. Two winners will each take home a hand-held tab-let computer.
I want to thank you for all your good works in serving your communities. Together, we can always "Reach a little higher!"

MD’A President’s Message Hello Lioness,
I just wanted to take a minute to introduce myself. Some of you know me already, I’m Kim
Van Rooy.
Let me tell you a little bit about myself. I am married to a wonderful man, John, and have 2
awesome children, Joe & Kady.
I have 2 beautiful grandchildren (The lights of my life), Kacy Claire & Hunter. I am the
mother of dogs (See what I did there all you Game of Throne fans?) Jake, Trixie & Sophie.
I have been wine merchant for Wine Rack in Welland for 16 years (Surprise! I love wine) and
I have just left school busing after 31 years to take a position as office assistant, which is
both exciting, and scary to be starting over at this time of my life.
I have been involved with Lions and Lioness most of my life. In fact every boy I dated got
drafted into helping out at my father’s (Past District Governor Larry Rendall) Lions events.
I became a Lioness 35 years ago and was proud when my mother, Marlene Rendall became A-
2 President.
I have followed in their footsteps and was District President of A-2 a few years back. This
year I am MD”A” President.
I love being a Lioness and am very excited to see where this year takes me. If any district
has events coming up please let me know. MD’A’ Vice President Karen Jackson and/or I would
love to visit.
If anyone has any questions for me don’t hesitate to contact me through e-mail lion-
[email protected] or my cell phone 905 931-4943 you can call or text.
I am looking forward to serving you this year and hope to see many of you at Laugh& Learn
or the Lioness MD’A’ meetings.
These meetings are open for ALL Lioness
Dates: Sept 17, 2017 & Jan 20, 2018 in Markham
And at the MD’A’ convention in St. Catharines
