A Letter from Our GraduateMarian has helped me transform what was once the spark of an idea into a lifejourney. I loved Marian from my very first day at school. I met friends who becamesisters. My teachers became family. I loved learning, and most importantly, my teachers challenged me to be my best every day.

What I didn’t know when I joined Marian is that the school would help me bringmy dreams to life. I’ve loved dancing since I was a child. I even tried to teach myself

how to dance by watching YouTube tutorials. I was floored when I found out that Icould take real dance classes as part of Marian’s Enrichment Program, which

empowers students to explore their talents and career interests.

I took classes every Tuesday at Marian, performed in four musicals, and joined the Theatre Club. I gained confidence and learned that I could become a successful performer even though I began learninglater than most trained dancers.

When it came to picking a high school, Marian counselors helped me select environments that offered anarray of creative opportunities within a rigorous academic setting. A major benefit of being a part of theMarian family is the Marian scholarships we receive to continue our academic journey at high-performing high schools. Marian also helps us learn how to successfully secure scholarships and financial aidto cover remaining costs. Without Marian, I wouldn’t have been able to continue chasing my dreams.

Today, I am a senior at Nerinx, am a part of the Thespian Club, and have appeared in eight musicals and plays. Because I learned time managementat Marian, I am balancing a tough course load and achieving a 4.0 GPA!

This year, I became one of the few selected out of thousands of applicants to participate in the Missouri Arts Academy Summer Fine ArtsProgram. I would not have been able to participate in this life-changing experience without Marian’s financial help. Marian paid for my expensesfor the program, and I learned so much about the importance of art inour world.

This experience gave me the foundation I needed to conquer the Muny! That enormous stage always spoke to my heart, but I never thought I wasgood enough. Marian taught me that if I applied myself and worked hard,I could achieve anything. After one of the most grueling auditions of mylife, I got the part! I danced every night in Footloose, and I felt alive!

Thanks to Marian, I’ve planned the rest of my journey, and I know the sky is the limit for me. Next, I plan toget my Bachelor’s in Musical Theatre at Southeast Missouri State University.

Because of Marian, I have a fire in my belly. I am receiving an amazing education that provides me with opportunities to be creative and continue challenging myself. One day, I’m going to perform on a Broadwaystage. I am so grateful that Marian is helping me to get there.

— Nyla Green, Marian Class of 2016

Invest in Her FutureMarian Middle School families commit to supporting studentsbased on their financial capacity. The typical family pays $400 annually. However, the actual cost of educating one Marian student ismore than $12,000 annually. It isthrough the generosity of ourdonors that we are able to succeedin our mission to break the cycle ofpoverty by Educating Girls for Life.

I come from a place of violence, guns, knives, and bullets.

I come from giving food to the poor.

I come from a loving and courageous Mom.

I’m going to a place of enthusiasm, creativity and knowledge.

A place of dreams and a place where my goals can be met.

I’m going to a place where my future can be successful and secure. To a place of chance.

Where I’m From, and Where I’m Going

5THANNUAL YOUNG FRIENDS BEER TASTING

BrewfestSaturday, October 19, 2019Hosted at

“Brewfest is one of my favorite events of the Fall. It’s great to haveso many people passionate about Marian in one place raising moneyfor Marian Girls because they are learning the skills they need tosucceed in high school, college, and beyond. My favorite part ofBrewfest was when one Marian Girl, Nariah, showcased her talentsby serenading the crowd with a Beyonce song. It’s awesome to seethe confidence and passion that is instilled in the girls through aMarian education. I’m a believer of the Marian mission — breakingthe cycle of poverty through education.”
