Users can:
Classlist – making life easy for the PTA
• Easy to contact parents
PTAs benefit from up-to-date contact lists of all parents automatically stored within the
platform. This makes it easy to send out emails, announcements and newsletters to each
class or year group with everybody included. Parents are invited to create their own
profile and enter their own contact details. They decide what to share with others.
• Creates an inclusive online parent community
There is space for open, inclusive chat on Classlist. It’s not just for the PTA – parents can
post messages about anything from lost uniform to babysitting requests. Contributors
must follow community guidelines and help create a warm, inclusive community for all
parents.
• Encourages parental engagement
With an active online community it’s important for the PTA to put up requests and
reminders about upcoming events – and to get feedback. This could include ideas for
future events, or finding people with particular skills. Classlist users tell us it’s far easier to
get volunteers if everybody knows what's going on, rather than trying to buttonhole
people at the school gate, or relying on personal contacts.
• Easy event management
The PTA and parents can organise events
on Classlist, making it easy to monitor
numbers and send reminders. Ticket
payment goes through PayPal, removing the
hassle of collecting money.
"When I first heard about Classlist my reaction was ‘this is
too good to be true – what’s the catch?!’ But there isn’t a
catch. Classlist is free. It has secure data protection
procedures. It’s a complete godsend for us."
Geraldine Archbold-Shore, PTA Chair at Harpenden, Hertfordshire
Classlist – making life easy for parents• Helps build friendships
Classlist enables you to reach out across your school community and make new friends.
It's a great way to set up coffee meetups, cycling groups, or to find folks interested
in anything from yoga to dog-walking.
• Unlocks useful information - fast
Want to know what homework your child’s class has tonight? Find a liftshare to a teenage
party? Get recommendations for half term family excursions? Book a trusted babysitter?
Just post a request on Classlist.
• Gives you ways to get involved
Classlist gives you much more visibility of what's going on - from social and fundraising
events, to opportunities to help with kids reading clubs and sports coaching. You’ll know
what's happening and where you would like to join in.
• Buy, sell, freecycle and de-clutter
Classlist's marketplace lets you trade second-hand uniforms, musical instruments,
unwanted furniture... anything that needs a new home with another school family.
"Parents use Classlist to discuss relevant topics, organise
social events, take payment for functions (rather than
collecting money personally - a real bonus!) and join
groups that connect with other like-minded parents - the
dog lovers group is a recent favourite!"
Nicky Laird, Class Rep, Dragon School, Oxford
• Lets you send private party invites
You can select and message groups of parents for
private party invitations; organise class-only meet-
ups; sort out end-of-year class presents for teachers,
and much more…
Classlist – making life easy for heads
• Enables positive parental engagement
Classlist enables a safe, inclusive and strongly moderated online community. The site has
strict content guidelines - grumbling is not permitted and almost never seen. Unlike some
social media sites, all users are fully authenticated, and often include school staff. A
vibrant, positive parent community helps improve engagement with the school.
• Deals with parent data protection issues
Classlist is registered with the Information Commissioners Office (ICO). Data handling
is fully GDPR compliant as confirmed by one of the UK's leading legal firms. Personal
data is entered by parents themselves and is not passed to third parties. Classlist is
accredited through government-backed Cyber Essentials security scheme.
• Helps new families and children integrate quickly
New parents joining Classlist can immediately link with others in their child's class and
year to arrange children's play dates, organise teenage parties, check on homework
queries and more. New reception parents and families joining secondary schools
are keen users.
• Saves school staff time
Classlist lets your parent association send out announcements and newsletters in
seconds, without relying on the school office. School staff can redirect requests for
parent contact details to Classlist, in compliance with data protection requirements.
“Classlist is far more than simply a super
communication tool. It has completely
transformed our parent teacher association’s
ability to organise events, fundraise and
communicate.”
Richard Murray, Head, Christ Church Cathedral School, Oxford

A word from our Ambassadors
It's also brilliant for central organisation. We’ve already organised a quiz night where people paid
for their tickets online. It cut my time as treasurer by about 75% - probably because I wasn’t
chasing after cheques from junior school, cheques from senior school, cheques all over the place.
It was really, really great to just have that ‘go on and buy-a-ticket online’ system.
“For me it’s important to be part of the school community and to give something back,” says Maria,
who has a ten year-old boy at the school. “Children need to see you being part of their school
because it helps them to feel committed to it themselves."
"Feedback from other parents has been very positive too – it has helped to publicise events more
successfully. In the past, some parents had complained of being unaware of forthcoming events with
flyers in book bags going missing."

Classlist has been really brilliant for our PSA.
Lin Skinner, PSA Treasurer, Sydenham High School
Maria Blick, a Classlist Ambassador, busy mum of 4, business owner and
Chair of her PTA has found Classlist makes it so much easier for her to
juggle parent life and get her job done.
Whether it’s providing refreshments for school plays, organizing the annual
Punch Party after the carol service or organizing quiz nights and the
summer fair– all are planned and manned by unpaid parent volunteers.
Maria Blick, Chair of the PA, Christ Church Cathedral School
We have found it to be so easy for our reps to gather
parent’s data and get everybody on and be communicating
with everybody. Much better than the days when they had to
look after everything in spreadsheets, and email lists, and all
sorts of different places. Really, really good for those.
It’s been brilliant for organising other events. I even organised my daughter’s 8th birthday party
through it and that also saved me lots and lots of time. So, we are really, really liking Classist here.
