RECORD HOLDERSTwo Wolf Pack members currently hold an all-time single match record. Senior Mo Malu-otoga holds the most digs in a single game after having 33 digs against Saint Mary’s. Also, Ashley Maki holds the all-time single match record in serve aces after putting up 6 against UC Riverside.
D-FENCEThe Pack is currently leading the Mountain West in Digs/Set. Nevada has put up 932 digs in 56 sets for a 16.64 per set average. Those numbers are good for 45th in the nation.
DYNAMIC DUOJamila Minor and Kayla Afoa rank 1 and 3 in the Mountain West in Attacks per Set with Minor holding a 11.61 and Afoa with a 10.91. Minor, the junior outside hitter is ranked 27th in the nation and the sophomore outside hitter is ranked 54th .
DOUBLE-DOUBLESJunior Dalyn Burns has already exceeded the number of double-doubles from last sea-son. Burns tallied five on the 2017 season and has already hit eight in the 2018 season. Kayla Afoa has already doubled her number from last year. The sophomore recorded two in her freshman campaign and has nine in her second season.
ON A ROLLThe Pack marked its best start to a season since 2002 going 7-2. That team went on to NCAA Tournament in Stanford, Calif.. The season ended in the first round to Pacific (3-2). Devin Scruggs was the head coach and finished 22-10 on the season with a 8-5 WAC record.
FIRST WEEKEND MAKES IMPACTDuring the Northern Arizona match the team had a total of 91 digs, good for second best single match number in school history. Just two digs (93) behind the leader. The 2005 team notched that title against Louisiana Tech.
ADDED RESPONSIBILITY With the loss of Madison Foley, the Wolf Pack’s rotation will look much different in the new season. Junior Jamila Minor and sophomore Sam Hayward were both starting op-posites last season and will see a lot of playing time along with the starting setter, Dalyn Burns. Sophomore Kayla Afoa contributed on both sides of the ball last year but will be expected to step in a bigger and more expanded roll with passing, attacking on defense.
NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCKTransfers will bring immediate impact to the roster. Shiloh Peleras from College of South-ern Idaho, Kassie McGill from UC Riverside, Ryan Blackwood from Sierra College, Camryn Rocha from Chico State, and Brianna Souza from Butte College.

TOGETHER AGAINKayla Afoa, Kili Robins and Shiloh Peteras all attended high school together, just different years. Peteras was a junior, Afoa a sophomore and Robins the freshman at Kamehameha HS, all found themselves together in Reno.
FRESHIESThree freshman were added to the roster in order to increase depth at all positions. Kili Robins had a good fall camp at the outside position, Maya McClellan is another outside hitter battling for a starting spot. Kaila Spevak is one of three new liberos vying for the starting nod.
SENIOR STATUSA familiar name to some and new to others is Mo Malutoga. The now senior, was a mem-ber of the 2016 Wolf Pack before taking a personal leave of absence. She is back and looking to go out with a bang her senior season.
TELEVISED FOR NEVADA VOLLEYBALLWith the Mountain West’s new partnership with Stadium, the Nevada volleyball team will make it on national broadcasts via Stadium’s 24-hour over-the-air network and digi-tal platforms. The Wolf Pack’s conference match at San José State will be featured on the network.
PRESEASON ON THE ROADThe Pack, picked to finish tenth in the Mountain West preseason poll does not see home play until Sept. 20. The opening home match is against the defending conference cham-pions, Colorado State in Virginia Street Gym with a first serve time of 6:30 p.m. PT.
STAFF CONSISTENCY KEY TO TEAM SUCCESSFour years. One staff. Head coach Lee Nelson returns his entire coaching staff from the previous three years for the 2018 season. Assistant coaches Tyson Norton, Megan Burton and graduate manager Vish Djurdjevic have all played a large roll in the program’s resur-gence since the hiring of Nelson.
