Each year we say we'll start doing this, or stop doing that, but our big plans eventually get dashed. So, this year, let?s plan to be successful when giving up bad habits! We have provided 7 tips to help make the process easier. 1.Take small, manageable steps. Take everything one day at a time and set short-term goals. Deciding to break a habit for 1 day is far more realistic ? and far less intimidating. 2.Find out what exactly triggers your habit. Keep a journal where you record the frequency, duration and intensity of a habit. After a week or two, you can detect a trend as to what sets you off. 3.Plan how you? ll respond to it. When the urge appears, you must know ahead of time what defense you will use.Take a walk, make a phone call, exercise, drink water or read a book. 4.Learn new hobbies and create a new, good habit. Choose to learn something to fill your time and divert your attention. New hobbies can help keep your hands and mind busy. 5.Enlist the support of family and friends. People who boost your morale and cheer you on will help you win in any struggle you are going through. 6.Reward yourself each time you make some progress. Set small goals and as you reach them, give yourself a pat on the back! 7.Don? t give up. If you give into temptation, remember that it doesn?t mean failure. Get up, try again! At any age, New Year?s resolutions can provide a fresh start. Here?s to a happy and prosperous 2018! Happy New Year!
3.Plan how you?ll respond to it.
7.Don?t give up. If you give into temptation, remember that it doesn?t mean failure. Get up, try again!
At any age, New Year?s resolutions can provide a fresh start. Here?s to a happy and prosperous 2018!
