Ch. g, (May), by El Corredor - First Violin , by Dixieland Band
. Trainer Miller Darrin. Bred by Barak Farm (Ky).DOMINICAN hopped
slightly the start, quickly settled three or four wide, was asked
to pick it up three furlongs out, worked
his way out seven wide about the furlong grounds, then closed
determinedly to be up in the last lunge. STREET SENSE, well inhand
while following the leaders five wide from the outset, crept up
four wide approaching the final quarter, was floated outseven wide
by GREAT HUNTER when that one was forced out a bit in the upper
stretch by TEUFLESBERG, was carried out fora stride at the
sixteenth pole by TEUFLESBERG, stuck a head in front briefly
approaching the wire but dropped a tough decisionin the last
stride. ZANJERO, up close from the outset while in hand two or
three wide, made a bold run to poke his head in frontbriefly in the
final sixteenth but was outfinished. TEUFLESBERG bobbled at the
start, quickly recovered and galloped to aclear, easy lead while in
hand, accomplished modest fractions, came out farther on the track
entering the upper stretch, driftedout in front of GREAT HUNTER
about the sixteenth pole when sharply roused left-handed forcing
that one to take up, wasstraightened and continued on with good
courage. GREAT HUNTER brushed the side of the gate at the break,
went up to trackfront-running TEUFLESBERG in hand four wide, inched
after the leader leaving the second turn, was floated out a bit by
thatone entering the lane, then was forced to take up when
TEUFLESBERG drifted out at the sixteenth pole. TIME SQUARED, off
astep slow, raced three or four wide, angled seven or eight wide
leaving the second turn but offered no closing threat. LOVEDUBAI,
slow to begin, raced three wide while unhurried, maneuvered out
nine wide into the stretch and never menaced.Owners- 1, Silverton

in hand four wide early, raced within easy striking distance, was
put to a drive leaving
the seven-sixteenths pole, reached the front when straightened
into the upper stretch when roused once on the right side,
edgedinto the three path, then drew off in the final furlong under
steady left-handed encouragement. HIGH LIMIT, nicely placedunder a
rating hold three or four wide from early on while tracking
front-running SPANISH CHESTNUT, inched after that onewhile
advancing inside the winner on the far turn, stuck his head in
front for a stride or two between calls leaving thequarter-mile
marker, then was no match for BANDINI when straightened for the
drive while superior to the others despitebobbling sharply nearing
the sixteenth pole. CLOSING ARGUMENT came out after the break and
bumped with SPANISHCHESTNUT when that one leaned in, was reserved
in behind the leaders three wide, was asked for more entering the
far turn, brushed with CONSOLIDATOR at the five-sixteenths pole
while immediately inside that one, angled five wide into the
stretchand couldn't menace the top two while fully extended for his
position. SUN KING, allowed to settle quickly into last
position, maneuvered in four wide, moved out farther on the track
midway on the backstretch while continuing to trail, made a
movedleaving the three-eighths pole to reach a striking position,
came out seven or eight wide entering the stretch but was empty
inthe final furlong. CONSOLIDATOR bobbled at the break and leaned
in soon after bumping SPANISH CHESTNUT, raced three orfour wide,
brushed with CLOSING ARGUMENT approaching the stretch, swung out
six wide, was angled back in three wide whenstraightened away but

moved to the fore near the inside approaching the first turn while
rating kindly, went along under careful
handling, turned back a bid from BRANCUSI leaving the three
furlong marker, then expanded his advantage in the drive undersix,
well-spaced right-handed strokes of the whip. BRANCUSI angled in
approaching the first turn while gaining a forwardposition,
tightened it up on GREAT NOTION which forced that one to check
nearing the first turn, edged up outside PEACERULES to press the
pace four wide, was asked for his best leaving the three-eighths
pole, then couldn't sustain the neededmomentum while clearly second
best. OFFLEE WILD exchanged bumps approaching the first turn with
CROWNED DANCERwhen that one was forced in by GREAT NOTION, settled
inside within easy striking distance, saved ground to the stretch,
cameout five wide when straightened for the drive, was empty the
last eighth but much the best of the others. CROWNED DANCER,in
tight between rivals approaching the first turn, exchanged bumps
first with GREAT NOTION, then bounced inward bumpingwith OFFLEE
WILD, moved inside on the backstretch, saved ground into the
stretch, angled five wide for the drive but couldn'tmenace.
ACCEPTABLE VENTURE, outrun into the backstretch while in behind
horses, moved out five or six wide and neverseriously menaced while
improving position. LION TAMER worked his way in behind rivals
approaching the first turn, came outjolting GREAT NOTION at the
seven furlong marker, settled to race under light rating between
foes four wide, continued fourwide in a striking position to the
final quarter and was finished. LOTS OF SIZZLE raced in contention
five wide for six furlongsand faded. TEN CENTS A SHINE, six wide on
the first turn, moved in behind horses on the backstretch and was
through afterthree-quarters. GREAT NOTION, checked approaching the
first turn behind BRANCUSI and forced in when that one angled
in,exchanged bumps with CROWNED DANCER while placing that one in
tight, was jolted soundly at the seven furlong marker byLION TAMER
and was through soon after. A foul claim lodged by the rider of
CROWNED DANCER against BRANCUSI foralleged interference entering
the first turn was disallowed. Because of camera malfunction, the
order of finish was confirmed bythe placing judges. The margins
were determined by the Equibase field crew.Owners- 1, Gann Edmund

HOLIDAY came out at the start and soundly bumped with BOB'S IMAGE,
quickly recovered to track the leaders
under rating four or five wide, edged closer nearing the end of
the backstretch, inched after BOOKLET approaching the
stretch, reached the front leaving the quarter-mile ground, was
soundly shaken up with the whip left-handed soon after, then, after
therider switched the stick to his right hand, continued under
pressure to win going away. BOOKLET, briefly in front during the
runto the first turn, was eased back outside of BOB'S IMAGE, failed
to relax while outside that one on the first turn, forced theissue,
finally settled into his best stride nearing the end of the
backstretch, gained a slight lead entering the second turn, madethe
pace until the final quarter, then grudgingly weakened in the
drive. OCEAN SOUND (IRE) came out at the start exchangingbumps with
STRAIGHT GIN, settled in behind horses three wide, raced within
easy striking distance, swung out five or six wideentering the
stretch but lacked a closing response. STRAIGHT GIN leaned in at
the break exchanging bumps with OCEANSOUND, was steadied soon after
and pinched back in tight quarters, angled near the inside, saved
ground, edged closer on thefar turn, came out four wide to make a
run into the upper stretch but failed to sustain the needed
momentum. BOB'S IMAGE,bumped soundly at the start by HARLAN'S

astutely handled from the start, moved up inside HAL'S HOPE and
MORE THAN READY to vie for the lead
approaching the first turn, gained a slight advantage while
relaxing nicely despite establishing solid fractions, shook off
HAL'SHOPE approaching the stretch, was engaged immediately after
from the outside by MORE THAN READY, was brushedrepeatedly when
that one leaned in at the three-sixteenths, then, under stout
lefthanded encouragement, gamely held that onesafe when brushed

backstretch to save ground, moved rapidly from between HAL'S HOPE
and BAREOUTLINE leaving the five-sixteenths pole to go after the

HIGHYIELD repeatedly through the drive. WHEELAWAY, unhurried while

reach contention entering the stretch but couldn't muster the
needed response. DEPUTY WARLOCK, outrun forseven furlongs while
able to save ground, swung out seven wide for the drive and
