NC State (5-1), Boston College (5-2), Syracuse (5-2), Virginia (5-2), Miami (5-2) and Duke (5-2) are all just one win shy of bowl qualifica- tion. The ACC has led all conferences with 21 bowl bids over the last two years. Clemson defeated previously undefeated NC State, 41-7, last Saturday at Death Valley. It was the fifth all-time ACC matchup between undefeated teams with at least five wins. Three of the previous four winners of those games have gone on to win the national championship. • 1990 (11/3) - Virginia (7-0) vs. Georgia Tech (6-0-1) Georgia Tech won 41-38 and went on to claim the ACC title and a share of the national championship. • 1993 (10/16) - Florida State (6-0) vs. Virginia (5-0) The Seminoles rolled to a 40-14 victory over the Cavaliers, won the ACC title and finished the season 11-1. Florida State was voted No. 1 in both polls at the conclusion of the season to claim the national championship. • 1997 (11/8) - North Carolina (8-0) vs. FSU (8-0) In a tight defensive battle, Florida State scored a 20-3 win over the Tar Heels and went on to win the confer- ence championship. After a late-season loss to Florida, the Seminoles beat Ohio State in the Sugar Bowl and finished No. 3 in the country. • 2013 (10/19) - Clemson (6-0) vs. Florida State (5-0) Florida State beat the Tigers 51-14, and defeated Duke in the ACC Championship Game. The Seminoles com- pleted an undefeated season with a 34-31 win over Auburn in the Rose Bowl, becoming the last national champions of the BCS era. All 14 ACC teams are featured this weekend in conference action. The league will be showcased in prime time over a three day span beginning Thursday, when Georgia Tech plays at Virginia Tech at 7:30 p.m. on ESPN. It is the first ESPN Thursday night for either team since 2016. Virginia Tech has won three straight ESPN Thursday night games. Virginia Tech (32) and Georgia Tech (29) have played the most ESPN Thurs- day night games of any team in the ACC. QUICK HITS

ACADEMICS• Ten of 14 ACC Football teams earned a graduation success rate (GSR) at or above the FBS average of 76. That ties for fi rst among Power 5 conferences, both in terms of percentage and in total number.
• The ACC remains the only Power 5 conference to have multiple teams score 90 or higher in GSR each year since 2005. Duke (96), Wake Forest (93) and Boston College (90) reached that plateau last year.
• In the 2018 U.S. News and World “Best Colleges” rankings, ACC member schools combine for an average rank of 54.7, marking the 12th straight year that the ACC has led all Power 5 conferences.
ATHLETICS• The ACC is the only conference to win national championships in football, men’s basketball, women’s basketball and baseball over the last four years.
• The ACC has won a combined four football and men’s basketball national titles over the last fi ve years, twice as many as any other conference.
• The ACC has had a team in either the College Football Playoff or the BCS National Championship Game in each of the past fi ve years.
• The ACC led all conferences with 10 bowl teams in 2017. Over the last two years, the ACC has had a nation’s best 21 teams in bowl games.
• The ACC has earned at least six bowl bids in 17 consecutive seasons. The league ranks second among all conferences with 116 total bowl appearances since 2005.
• Since 2013, the ACC is second among all con-ferences with 54 postseason appearances, has the second-best record of any conference in BCS, New Year’s Six and CFP games, and is tied for the most national championships (Florida State in 2013, Clemson in 2016).
• Over the last four years, the ACC is 13-3 in games against the SEC on rivalry week, which features Clemson-South Carolina, Florida State-Florida, Georgia Tech-Georgia and Louisville-Kentucky. The league was 3-1 in 2017, winning all three games on the road.
• Two of the last fi ve national champions have come from the ACC, and the league has had a team in the national championship game in three of the last fi ve years. Both are tied for the most from any conference.
• An ACC football player has won the Heisman Tro-phy or the Campbell Trophy – commonly referred to as the “Academic Heisman” – in four of the last fi ve years, something no other league can claim.
Saturday marks the 26th time in the 32-game history of the Clemson-FSU series that at least one team has been ranked among the Top 25. Florida State has won three of its last four, including last week over Wake Forest.
Virginia plays host to North Carolina on Saturday at 12:20 p.m. on Raycom Sports. Virginia’s victory in Chap-el Hill last season snapped a seven-game UNC win streak in “The South’s Oldest Rivalry,” which was fi rst played in 1892. Saturday’s game will mark the 123rd meeting between the programs and the 50th in Charlottesville.

Thursday, Oct. 25Georgia Tech (3-4, 1-3 ACC)

Virginia Tech leads series, 9-6Last meeting: GT, 28-22 (2017)
Head Coaches:Georgia Tech - Paul Johnson (78-58 in 11th seasonat Georgia Tech; 185-97 in 21st season overall)Virginia Tech - Justin Fuente (23-10 in third season at Virginia Tech; 49-33 in eighth season overall)
Notes: This series has generally favored the road team, but Georgia Tech broke the trend with last year’s 28-22 win at Bobby Dodd Stadium • Virginia Tech had won the previous three meetings – and fi ve of the previous six – versus the Jackets in Atlanta • Georgia Tech has won the last two in Blacksburg, in-cluding a 30-20 victory in 2016 • Jackets QB Ta’Quon Marshall completed only two passes in last year’s game, but they went for 60- and 80-yard touchdowns • Only one game in the series since 2007 has been de-cided by double-digits • Seven of the 15 all-time meet-ings have been decided by six points or less • Prior to the Hokies joining the ACC in 2004, the two teams had only met once previously, with Georgia Tech’s 6-3 win in 1990 helping the Yellow Jackets to the national title • Severe weather conditions forced cancellation of a scheduled meeting in Blacksburg in 2000.
Head Coaches:Boston College - Steve Addazio (35-35 in sixth sea-son at BC; 48-46 in eighth season overall)Miami - Mark Richt (24-9 in third season at Miami; 169-56 in 18th season overall)
Notes: The teams meet for the 30th time but for the fi rst time since the 2012 season opener • That game saw freshman RB Duke Johnson rush for 135 yards and two touchdowns as the Hurricanes won 41-32 at the Eagles’ Alumni Stadium to avenge a loss in the 2011 season fi nale • The teams are even at 2-2 in ACC play • Boston College’s ACC wins in 2007 and 2011 halted a Miami dominance that saw the Hurricanes defeat the Eagles 15 consecutive times following Doug Flutie’s famed Hail Mary pass and BC’s 47-45 win on Nov. 23, 1984 • The Hurricanes are 8-3 all-time against the Eagles in Chestnut Hill • Following Friday night’s game, Miami will close this regular season with four consecutive games against ACC Coastal Division opponents • The Eagles will visit Virginia Tech on Nov. 3 before closing out with three games against Atlantic Division rivals, including home tests against Clemson and Syracuse.
