2018 Muskingum County Junior Fair Hog Sale Friday, August 17, 2018; 1:00 p.m. in swine show arena All animals were weighed on Sunday by a licensed livestock weigh master. All buyers need a buyer’s number to make a purchase. If you do not have a number, check with sale personnel in the Junior Fair Office. Livestock becomes the property of the buyer at the time of sale. What Buying Options do I Have? There are two options for purchasing livestock – “turn” or “keep.” Please designate after the final bid whether you wish to turn or keep the animal. Turn for resale: By this method, you will be charged the difference in price between your bid and the market price listed on the sale sheet. You do not get the animal by this method. The only arrangement you as the buyer need to make is your payment which is deductible as a charitable contribution. Animals turned for resale, will be resold at the local stockyards. This means your expense to be paid at the conclusion of the sale would only include the difference between the purchase and market price. Once you purchase an animal and declare your wish to turn the animal, it no longer belongs to you. The market bidder owns all turned animals. Keep (for personal consumption): With this method, you will be charged the entire purchase price and you must make arrangement for the animal. Your cost above the market price is deductible as a charitable contribution. Please be prepared to let the auctioneer know where you want the animal sent for processing. Immediately after you purchase an animal, show your ID # to the auctioneer and indicate “turn” or “keep.” All turned livestock will be loaded tonight and hauled to Muskingum Livestock. If you are keeping the animal, you must make arrangements to have your purchase hauled from Muskingum Livestock to the processor. Other Information The Sale Committee asks that no donations of animals be made back to the exhibitors. Monetary donations are welcome by supporting a designated fund (ex: Junior Fair Barn Fund, 4-H Endowment, FFA Endowment). Once you are finished with your purchase(s), please visit the trailer south of the coliseum to make payment and sign your invoice. Checks should be made payable to: Muskingum Livestock Sales. Payment is due tonight unless prior arrangements have been make with Muskingum Livestock Sales. Muskingum Livestock Sales will be accepting credit/debit cards for payments with a 3.5% upcharge.
