ORTHODOX CHURCH CHRIST THE SAVIOR 1802 Pershing Ave. Rockford, Illinois 61108 - Father Jonathan Bannon Father’s Cell Phone: 815-721-4952 www.CTSRockford.org The End of a Chapter for our Parish History At 97 years, our beloved Weira Hryszcuck. has fallen asleep in the Lord while being cared for by her daughter and former Parish Board Vice President Olga Karmelowicz. Weira was born in Belarus and lived through WWII having moved to a labor camp in Germany. Having come to the USA with children from Belarus, she was the last surviving parent of our founding members. God grant her eternal memory! WOMEN’S BOOK STUDY Time and Despondency by Nicole Roccas (Need the book? Check out Ancient Faith on line or see Father Jonathan to place an order.) Idleness. Apathy. Restlessness. Procrastination. These are symptoms, of what early Christian theologians called despondency (acedia), a spiritual sickness rooted in a lack of care or effort. In regaining the sacredness of time, we re- encounter the Resurrection of Christ in the dark and restless moments of our lives. Consider exploring this book! PARISH BOOK STUDY OPEN TO ALL! NATIVITY FAST GUIDELINES: Always speak with your Spiritual Father when approaching fasting and prayer. The Church directs us to refrain from MEAT and DAIRY for all 40 days before Christmas starting December 15th. Hid your fasting, keep a joyful face and attend Confession to properly prepare to receive the Christ Child on the Nativity. We receive Him in the Eucharist.
