WhyGoToJamaica?BecauseGodlovesusandgaveHisSonforus,oneofourresponsestoHisloveistoloveothers.Thishappensathome,inourfamilies,schoolsandjobs.Butwealsohaveachancetosharethislovewithapeoplegroupthatisoftenneglectedworldwide:thedeafcommunity.InJamaica,deafstudentsandfamiliesstruggletofindsuitableeducation,employmentandrelationships.Inmanycasesthedeafaretreatedassecond-classcitizens.ThisrealitycanmakeitdifficultforthedeafcommunitytodiscoverandbelievethatthereisaGodwholovesthemandcreatedthemforapurpose.That’swherewewillcomein!FusehasanopportunitytotraveltocentralJamaicatoministertofamiliesatanorganizationcalledCCCD(CaribbeanChristianCentrefortheDeaf).OurteamwillstayintheJamaicanDeafVillage(JDV)wherewewillspend

timelovingonthesefamiliesandtheirmissionaries.ThevarioustaskswedoandrelationshipsweformwillgiveusthechancetoshowthesepeoplejusthowmuchGodlovesthem!WhatWillTheTeamBeDoing?Eachdaywillvary,butourtimewillconsistofhelpingwithtasksaroundthedeafvillage,spendingtimewiththefamilies,visitinganorphanageandaninfirmaryandattendingadeafchurchservice.

WhoCanGoOnThisTrip?ThistripisdesignedforcurrentHighSchoolStudentsandafewadultchaperones.Allstudentsmustcompleteanapplicationandinterviewprocess,aswellasmeetallfinancialdeadlines.Allteammembersmusthaveanup-to-datepassportinordertoparticipateinthistrip.Ourteamwillmeetoccasionallyinthemonthsleadinguptothetripforspiritualandrelationalpreparation,andlanguagetraining.
