Joseph Haydn — Symphony No. 82 ‘The Bear’

Our season kicks off with a bang! You will enjoy American composer David Diamond’s Rounds for String Orchestra, a fiddle-inspired and high-energy piece premiered by the Minneapolis Symphony in 1944. The vigor of ‘Rounds’ will contrast with living Minnesota composer Steve Heitzeg’s beautiful Flower of the Earth, an homage to artist Georgia O’Keeffe. Rounding out the program, Joseph Haydn’s 82nd Symphony—subtitled ‘The Bear’—is full of wit, humor, and vivacious joy!

Children’s ConcertTuesday, February 19, 2019

Sergei Prokofiev — Peter and the Wolf

Our annual Children’s Concert features Sergei Prokofiev’s iconic Peter and the Wolf, an adventurous tale for children brought to life by Prokofiev’s brilliant music and orchestration. The piece features different instruments personifying characters in the story of Peter, his grandfather, the bird, the cat, the duck, the hunters... just beware of the wolf!*
