Recent state law requires that all public schools in Maryland survey students about school climate. The purpose of the sur-vey is to gain valuable information about the quality and char-acter of each school’s learning environment so that schools can promote a climate that supports student learning. Students took the survey during regular school hours between April 8th and 16th. The survey will ask students about topics such as stu-dent engagement, interactions with adults and with other stu-dents in the school, the school environment, bullying, and safe-ty. The survey will not ask about a student’s personal experienc-es, and students will not be asked to provide any information that might violate his or her privacy. The survey is confidential and school personnel will not have access to the responses of specific students. The response students provided where com-bined with the responses from other students in the school, and the results will be reported for each school and district. It’s true, in MCPS, students voices are heard.
Annually, Mr. Brian Brewer with our kind Admin and
our wonderful staff and student body support leads
Sligo Middle School in raising funds for Kids vs. Can-
cer. This is always a very successful fundraising
effort. The staff vs student basketball game is over-
whelmingly a fun activity. O.k, as usual, staff has
continue to out do the students but end up going
home using Mr. Ben Gay. Special thanks is extended
to each basketball player for helping to make this a
Fun Day with a sure purpose.

FROM THE DESK OF COACH LYNCH: Congrats to the Boys Softball Team for beating Eastern 10-2 for their final
game. The team was led by the three 8th grade All-Stars. Luke pitched a great game striking out several batters.
Aidan Schaffer stretching out to scoop up throws at first base. And Nathan porter cranking 2 homeruns.
FROM THE DESK OF COACH SHANE: The final cross country meet was held yesterday at home against Eastern
and what a way to end the season! Our girls and boys cross country teams both won... again! A personal best was
run by everyone. Eastern gave us some tough competition, but Sligo had enough runners in the top 7 to pull out one
more victory to go undefeated for the season one more time! Congratulations runners, on a race so well run, and to
another perfect season. You make us proud, not only in your win, but with your sportsmanship and grace. Well,
