The Doyle Cup was donated in 1985 by Pete Doyle, a Penticton businessman and his family, for competition of
Junior ‘A’ Hockey Clubs between Alberta and British Columbia. The best-of-seven series featured the Cham-
pion of the AJHL versus the Champion of the BCHL.
Until 2013, the winner of the Doyle Cup represented the Pacific Region at the RBC Cup National Champion-
ship. In 2013, the Western Canada Cup was created to crown a Regional Champion and advance two teams
to the RBC Cup from amongst the AJHL, BCHL, MJHL and SJHL. The WCC tournament ran from 2013-2017
before returning to the Doyle Cup format in 2018.
