From the Administrator’s Desk Wow! 2017 really flew by! This year we saw some milestones for the Lutheran Retirement Home. August marked the 55th year of operations for the nursing home. April marked the 23rd year of operations at Maple Court. Lutheran Retirement Home is an independent, non-profit, church affiliated, care facility. We greatly appreciate your support of our mission to care for our area seniors. Thank you! Have a safe and happy winter season!

From the Director of Nursing With the passing of the holiday season, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the wonderful Nursing staff at the Lutheran Retirement Home. On a daily basis they put their hearts and souls into providing the best care possible to meet the needs of our residents. We are very fortunate and I am personally very grateful to have these wonderful and talented Nurses and CNA’s to provide care for your loved ones. Thank you for all you do to make LRH the wonderful facility it is. I would like to wish you all a happy and safe new year.

Social Service News—Resident Council Resident Council is an independent, organized group of residents who work to maintain or improve the quality-of-life for residents of Lutheran Retirement Home. The council creates change, addresses quality-of-life and care issues, provides an opportunity for residents to discuss concerns in a safe setting, and works to enhance communication and problem-solving among residents and facility staff. Resident Council is vital to the operation of LRH, providing a voice for residents. Because the Office of the State Long-Term-Care Ombudsman works to resolve concerns made by or on behalf of long-term-care residents, it is a valuable resource for resident council when it comes to providing information about the following: * Residents’ rights *The role of Resident Council in promoting residents’ rights * Ways Resident Council can work with facility staff to identify problems and take action on issues impacting quality-of-life *How to organize and promote Resident Council Patti Brekken, Director of Social Services & Admissions
