To the family that saved my Christmas,

Words cannot express how deeply grateful I am for your truly selfless act. My husband and I never imagined we would be in this position. We are hard-working people who are going through a tough time.

My husband went to work one morning and almost didn’t come home. The accident was horrifying. A 700-pound brick wall fell on him. He was at the jobsite alone. He was trapped for twenty minutes. He shattered all the bones in his legs, knees included. Six months of rehab and phys-ical therapy was not what I expected. I was a single mother overnight. He is now permanently disabled.

It’s sad to work our entire lives and when we need government assis-tance we don’t qualify. After rent, we have $50. My mother helps me so I can stay in my apartment. She is on a fixed income and I never could have asked her to provide holiday gifts for our young daughter.

This never would never been possible without you. I plan to pay this forward when my circumstances change. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Words can’t express my gratitude.

Interfaith Social Services has become one of the South Shore’s most popular centers for volunteerism and community engage-ment. Volunteers contributed more than 21,000 hours of service

to Interfaith’s various programs this past year. This herculean effort was recognized at the annual Volunteer Appreciation Dinner.

At the June 15 event, 20 volunteers were inducted into The Matti Lang Volunteer Hall of Fame, named after one of Interfaith’s most dedicated volunteers, who gave decades of his life selflessly serving Interfaith’s clients. The honor of being inducted into the Hall of Fame is bestowed upon those who have been serving within the organiza-tion regularly for at least one year. Their names are inscribed on a plaque which hangs in Interfaith’s foyer.

“Volunteers are the heart and soul of our organization,” said Interfaith’s Director of Development Paula Daniels. “We would simply not able to serve our clients without these caring individuals.”

20th Annual Feed the Hungry Gala

special thanks to our feed the hungry gala 2017 sponsors and committee

We celebrated 70 years of neighbors helping neighbors at the 20th annual Feed the Hungry Gala. The signa-ture event, held December 8, 2017 at Granite Links Ballroom in Quincy, brought together a community of Interfaith’s friends and supporters for an evening of food, fun games and lively fundraising. The evening was

an unprecedented success, bringing in more than $390,000 for Interfaith's food pantry, mental health counseling and homelessness prevention programs.
