Keynote Session: Digital Disciplines: How the
New IT is Different
Joe Weinman, Author A variety of technologies such as cloud, big data,
social, mobile, cognitive computing and the
Internet of Things are enabling entirely new
approaches to business strategy and the creation
of unparalleled customer value across many
verticals. This presentation will highlight four major
"digital disciplines"--information excellence, solution
leadership, collective intimacy and accelerated
innovation--that leaders such as GE, Nike, Procter &
Gamble, Netflix and Burberry are currently using.
Information excellence complements and
supplants operational excellence; solution
leadership connects products and services to the
cloud and enables new business models; collective
intimacy uses algorithms to enable personalization
and contextualization; and accelerated innovation
is the evolution of open innovation to global
networks of solvers. This keynote will start the
conversation on how IT is different and why it’s
important that you understand these digital
disciplines.
Keynote Session: Moving the Sphere of
Influence
Google Discover where Google's Procurement team is in its
journey to becoming a trusted partner and the
guardian of value across the business. This session
will highlight different options for governance and
spend policy structures in order to deliver
comprehensive sourcing strategies, reach
significantly higher spend, better align in a holistic
view with Finance and hold business teams
accountable for delivering opportunities within their
area. The presenters will offer insightful viewpoints
and lessons learned while managing competing
priorities in a dynamic environment.
You will learn:
How to be a trusted business partner and
guardian of value
Key philosophies and spend governance
practices
Practical advice for managing competing
priorities

Avasant Innovative digital technologies have a
transformational impact on business and society.
How can organizations remain relevant in the
Digital Age? In this session, sourcing thought leader
Kevin Parikh, Founder and Global CEO of Avasant,
will discuss the challenges and opportunities facing
different industries in the new age of digital
disruption. He will explore topics such as: how digital
is changing today’s workforce across various
industries; how corporations can compete against
disruptive innovation; how rapidly businesses are
embracing digital transformation; who the digital
customer actually is and how he/she is different
from a traditional customer; how the sourcing and
procurement functions are impacted by digital
technologies; and more.
Keynote Session: A Fireside Chat on Self-
Sourcing…Is it a Blessing or a Curse for the
Services Supply Chain?
MBO Partners In this session, contract talent thought leader Gene
Zaino, President and CEO of MBO Partners, and
Dawn Tiura, CEO of SIG, will discuss the rise of self-
sourcing and what it means for the traditional
services supply chain. Specifically, the session will
provide an overview of how enterprises are
streamlining their talent supply chains by leveraging
independent workforce trends that enable self-
sourcing talent directly. Audience members will
have the chance to submit questions for the experts
to answer.
Topics may include:
The rise of the independent workforce
Uncovering savings by flattening key
segments of your services supply chain
Cloud-based platforms that enable efficient
direct-to-talent access
Talent marketplaces vs. preferred and
private talent networks
The need for compliant contract talent
engagement and risk mitigation
The competitive advantage of becoming a

LatAm Alliance Panel Discussion
Keynote Session: The Power of Positive
Leverage
Vantage Partners Procurement negotiation strategies are mostly
about leverage: how to get more, how to use what
you have and how to take theirs away. But in a
world where we must deliver competitive
advantage and not just cost savings, being able to
help suppliers succeed provides even greater
leverage than the ability to impose costs or take
away revenue. What does it take to become a
customer of choice, and is it worth it?
Global Digital Innovation Council
Council Meeting Open to All Delegates Open to all Summit delegates. The GDIC (Global
Digital Innovation Council) consists of business
executives that are interested in collaborating and
sharing best practices on how to leverage sourcing
and digital innovation to address pressing business
and societal issues/opportunities. GDIC
Members/Guests meet onsite prior to SIG's Summer
& Fall Summits where they share their experiences,
and review nominations for GDIC Members to
collaborate on solving issues/opportunities of
mutual interest through digital innovation.
Sourcing and Governance: Tools and
Technologies
Council Meeting Open to All Delegates Open to all Summit delegates. In this session, the
moderator and attendees will focus on Sourcing
Governance Tools and Technologies. The session
will further unveil the mission and objectives of a SIG
Working Council on this topic, including members
and future meetings. The purpose of this Working
Council is to ensure that you have a resource to
turn to when using or assessing specific sourcing
and governance tools and technologies; network
and develop relationships with subject-matter
experts, thought leaders and practitioners; develop
and understand how enterprises use sourcing and
governance technologies to drive value throughout
the Procure-to-Pay value-chain; stay apprised of
how transformational technologies can either
simplify or add complexity to the procurement
environment, especially with the proliferation of
advanced technologies and platforms.
Third Party Risk Management
Council Meeting Open to All Delegates Open to all Summit delegates. In this session, the
moderator and attendees will focus on Third Part
Risk Management. The session will further unveil the
mission and objectives of a SIG Working Council on
this topic, including members and future meetings.
The purpose of this Working Council is to bring
together those professionals that are interested in
collaborating and sharing best practices in Third
Party Risk Management of their complex business
relationships; provide a professional networking and
relationship development environment; involve key
industry regulatory agencies or other entities that
have a direct and critical bearing on optimizing the
business value the organizations can achieve
through effective, efficient and compliant best
practices in Third Party Risk Management.
Workforce Sourcing Council
Council Meeting Open to All Delegates Open to all Summit delegates. This is the first
meeting of a new council designed to bring
together sourcing professionals tasked with the
procurement of various components of their
organization's workforce. This council will serve as a
means for both the providers and buyers of these
services to share their experiences and exchange
best practices. Through a series of discussions and
working groups; educational whitepapers, research
and webinars; as well as in-person events, this
council will become the go-to source for the best
information specifically for Procurement
Professionals. The workforce of most major
organizations can no longer function effectively
with only employees of that organization
performing the work. They must augment their
workforce with various forms of non-employees;
Agency temporaries, Consultants, Freelancers and
others working on projects defined by a statement
of work. In order for organizations to efficiently
engage these workers they must employ systems
and suppliers that conform to a program designed
and fulfilled by procurement. Working
collaboratively with other departments like human
resources, finance, legal and the lines of business,
sourcing must understand all of the dynamics at
play in order to create a series of venues for
obtaining the best talent, at the right price and just

in time. During this session the council will decide on
the initial priorities and review the results of the
survey completed by SIG members on this subject.
LatAm Alliance
Council Meeting Open to All Delegates Open to all Summit delegates. The LatAm Alliance
Council consists of sourcing leaders on the buy-side,
advisory and sell-side that share an interest of
developing the potential of the Americas as a
service provider and unveiling its talent to the
world. The Council meets at least semi-annually to
address and collaborate on topics of vital
importance to those doing business with Latin
America and provides an environment for
executives to openly discuss, learn and collaborate.
Leveraging Data for Innovative Procurement
Analytics
TBA / BravoSolution Procurement executives regularly confront the issue
of how data can be used to help with risk
mitigation, strategic cost management and more.
This session will explore the types of problems and
questions they face and how they can benefit from
the application of analytical solutions. In addition,
we will cover emerging cognitive solutions that help
drive real-time decision-making and predictive
sourcing capabilities.
You will learn:
How to ask the right questions to determine
the correct analytical insights
How to combine spend management with
other sources of data
How to work with new sources of data (e.g.,
social media, open source data) to support
supplier analytics, technology trends and risk
metrics
About the concept of "innovative data
leveraging" as a core dimension for building
analytics capabilities
Ready or Not, Here Come the New Lease
Accounting Standards
TBA / JLL For the past ten years, changes in lease accounting
have been purported to be on the horizon. In 2016,
the U.S. Financial Accounting Standards Board
(FASB) and the International Accounting Standards
Board (IASB) finally issued the new standards, which
have a significant ripple effect. These new
standards fundamentally change how any
organization with leases (including real estate and
equipment leases) will: manage lease negotiations;
administer the leased portfolio; determine whether
to lease or own assets; and conduct financial
reporting - all while impacting technology, tools
and governance.
You will learn:
The key elements to the changes in lease
accounting
How the new changes will impact decision-
making, including lease vs. buy decisions
How to be compliant with the new changes
How to create a detailed, actionable
roadmap, including preparation checklists
Innovative Labor Procurement: Blending a
Contingent and Contract Workforce
Becton Dickinson / Canon Business Process
Services In this session, we will discuss an innovative way to
blend contracted services and contingent labor to
create a win-win-win condition for business
managers, procurement and contract workers. The
contingent model is great but when business
managers spend too much time recruiting, on-
boarding and training non-employee workers they
cannot do their jobs, which leads to problems such
as not meeting production output, missing
schedules, lower quality and unhappy customers.
Contracted services provide reliable quality output
but require advanced planning and time to ramp
up and down. Combining the best of services and
contingent models results in a reliable workforce,
higher quality, lower cost and operational flexibility.
The presenters will discuss how to create a
comprehensive solution by highlighting a case
study on the use of external labor in the supply
chain and corporate services.
You will learn:
Why business managers are not happy with
the contingent workforce process
How and why one particular organization
blended contingent workforce with
contracted service
The challenges, benefits and processes to
make the blending of services and
contingent workers a success
An area of business (labor skill) where this
model works well

Redesigning Procurement for Agility
TBA / Tradeshift In today's highly unpredictable, competitive and
digital environment, we all know that only
businesses that are responsive, adaptable and
agile will thrive...but what is procurement's role in
enabling this? Is it to stay laser focused on delivering
savings or is it much more? Agility comes in many
shapes and sizes, from market intelligence and
access to data, to supplier relationships and
innovation. It's time for procurement to go from the
department of cost-cutting to the enabler of agility.
You will learn:
What agility means in the context of
procurement and why it matters
Why information and collaboration are key
to enabling agility
How disruptive technologies help
procurement create value for the business
Why traditional procurement approaches
need to be redesigned
Evaluating Financial Health of Private Suppliers

Self-Sourcing: Providing Access to Quality
Talent and Millions in Savings
TBA / Beeline You need direct access to talent without the risks of
online marketplaces or the cost of traditional
staffing. But with all the talk about self-sourcing,
how do you choose a solution that fits best with
your business? Are you taking everything into
consideration before making a decision? In this
session, you will learn how to make sure that
candidate profiles are current, track negotiations,
ensure rates and markups are transparent, and
comply with policies and processes for payment.
You will learn:
Pros and cons of online talent platforms
How self-sourcing differs from traditional
models
Sourcing Transformations that Drive Business
and Strategic Objectives
American Water / Avasant In this session, you will hear strategies and
approaches being utilized by business leaders
today that drive IT transformation through sourcing.
This session is catered to business leaders who are
working with one or more external organizations to
drive innovation into their company. The discussion
will address trends, strategies and examples of what
is being done by leading organizations.
You will learn:
The latest trends in transformational sourcing
The key hurdles to designing and
implementing solutions
Examples of success stories at industry
leading organizations
Elevating Procurement's Status: Where Spend
and Brand Management Meet
Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group / Zycus Procurement teams are notoriously task-
focused...heads down, applying spend
management best practices to deliver sustainable,
measurable business value...but they rarely focus on
communicating that value to business stakeholders.
This session will highlight best practices for creating
and delivering value, as well as share branding
techniques procurement leaders are using to
quantify their contributions. We will also show you
how leading-edge companies are attaining trusted
business advisor status by delivering messaging that
resonates with C-Suite constituents throughout the
organization.
You will learn:
Strategies for maximizing procurement value
creation across source-to-pay
Applications leveraging technology
innovations to create transparency in the
procurement process and engage
stakeholders
Best practices for aligning procurement
goals to enterprise-wide goals and initiatives
Proven techniques for establishing,
reinforcing and measuring procurement's
brand
Beyond RPA: Revamping Operations with New
Digital Process Models
TBA / NelsonHall Over the past few years, Robotics Process
Automation (RPA) has rapidly become a key tool
for automating operations. However, RPA is just the
start of the journey and is now being combined with
additional Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based tools to
Page 10

bring a new meaning to digitalization. This session
will analyze the journey and outline the potential for
moving beyond RPA to apply new digital process
models to outsourced processes and shared
services organizations.
You will learn:
How operations can be transformed to
become more digital in nature
The impact of digitalization on
organizational competitiveness
How to combine internal and external data
to enhance operational effectiveness
The X Factor: How a Variable Workforce Model
Drives Cost Savings and Business Flexibility
Cognizant / Monsanto / TalentWave A variable workforce model can attract scarce
talent, while driving significant cost savings and
enhancing enterprise flexibility. But how do today's
procurement professionals partner with their HR
colleagues to determine the ideal mix of traditional
versus flexible workers (independent contractors,
freelancers, temp workers)? This is the "million-dollar
question" for most procurement teams, but it is hard
to answer because talent demand is not static and
is constantly in flux. Where do best-in-class
organizations draw the line between full-time
employees and flexible workers...and if your
organization isn't using flexible workers, should you?
You will learn:
The value of a total talent model that
leverages an independent workforce
How to find the ideal mix of traditional vs.
contingent workers
When and where to leverage a contingent
workforce
How to mitigate risks involved with the
contingent workforce
The strategic value of building a talent
community
Vendor Management Risk Mitigation: The
Importance of Having a Formalized
Methodology
SunLife / Hiperos Today many organizations are coming under
increased regulatory pressures causing them to
reevaluate and formalize their risk management
strategies. In this presentation you will learn how
one company, Sun Life, has developed a unique
approach and formalized their vendor
management by correlating inherent risk by line of
business and used technology to provide a
transparent view into all vendors across the entire
organization.
You will learn:
Vendor management best practices for risk
mitigation
How a formalized vendor management
process prepares organizations for
regulators
How leaning on technology can help
automate the vendor management process
Slavery in Supply Chains: the Risks, the Realities
and the Impact on Global Business
CBRE / LexisNexis Throughout global supply chains, forced labor and
other exploitation exist. This modern slavery is
generally concealed and receives inadequate
prevention, policing and prosecution. Failure to
address modern slavery supply chain risk can lead
to reputational, financial and strategic damage for
your organization. In this session we will discuss the
risks you face in your supply chain, as well as the
strategies and procedures that help identify and
reduce them.
You will learn:
Facts and figures of modern slavery in
supply chains
Ethical labor issues
Global standards on business and human
rights
Why construction firms of all sizes should
respond to modern slavery commitments
and legislation
What a good ethical sourcing practice
should look like including policies and
processes to consider
How to measure progress and demonstrate
success
A Rock Star Approach: Establishing a Global
Financial System for Procurement Alignment
Sony Music / Determine Sony Music Entertainment has established a global
financial systems strategy using a standard SAP
template that aligns Procurement for a common
footprint. This strategy has been deployed in 27
countries and is planned to roll out to all Sony Music

territories. In adopting this approach, several
challenges have been addressed pertaining to
controlling cost, standardizing a purchasing
solution, managing critical services spend,
globalizing data and declining industry revenue. As
a result, there is now one global purchasing solution
for all five continents of operation. They have also
streamlined invoicing through one shared services
center, improved supplier relationships and gained
real-time visibility on the businesses through
budgets. All of this has resulted in one global version

On Cloud Nine: Best Practices for Contracting
of Cloud Services
Cardinal Health / Baker & McKenzie Operating in the cloud is no longer a theoretical
concept. It is standard protocol and comes with
complexities and issues. But you can maximize your
efficiency in resolving next generation issues in
contracting for cloud services. By understanding
the interests of buyers and sellers of cloud-based
solutions and the complex issues they raise,
contracting parties are best able to negotiate
appropriate agreements. This presentation is
intended to help you identify the key issues
presented by various types of cloud offerings - from
software as service (SAAS), to platform as a service
(PAAS) to infrastructure as a service (IAAS). You will
also learn how leading companies resolve these
issues - both from a provider and buyer perspective,
as well as domestically and around the globe. As
these offerings become more customized and as
they are combined to create multi-layered
solutions, understanding the issues they raise and
how to effectively resolve them through the
contracting process becomes ever more critical.

Contracting for Agile Software Development
Mayer Brown Creating software using an Agile Software
Development ("ASD") methodology is not a new
concept, but it is rapidly gaining popularity.
Software developers believe that ASD yields
workable code sooner and in a more efficient
manner. However, clients and their legal teams
may be uncomfortable from a contracting
perspective with an approach that is often light on
upfront specifications and relies more on
collaboration and trust between the client and
developer. While cumbersome and arguably
inefficient, the traditional waterfall approach is easy
to memorialize in contractual language due to its
linear nature. Nonetheless, contracting for ASD
requires some fresh thinking. There are contractual
mechanisms that clients can implement to reduce
the uncertainty under the ASD approach while still
reaping the benefits of this collaborative
methodology.
You will learn:
What ASD is and how are clients using it
Pricing mechanisms to increase the
likelihood of delivery while preventing
gouging
Benefits and drawbacks of easier
termination rights and ways to ensure
project completion
How to use warranties despite upfront
specifications

Navigating External Workforce Management: A
Case Study with Willis Towers Watson
Willis Towers Watson / SAP Fieldglass Rather than hiring workers as traditional full-time
employees, market changes including globalization
and access to talent are steering organizations to
engage more external workers and services
providers. Scaling from hundreds to thousands of
workers during peak season, Willis Towers Watson is
an example of a business that heavily relies on this
talent pool. In this interactive session, we will walk
through Willis Towers Watson's flexible workforce
management program, highlighting the steps it put
in place pre-implementation to support a successful
program.

Want to be Ready for Big Data? Make Sure to
Control Small Data First!
Infineon or Fresenius Medical Care /
SynerTrade In a 2016 Oliver Wyman/SIG benchmarking study
about data quality, 60% of the organizations
surveyed self-reported that they were bad at
managing small data. Contributing factors to this
issue included mergers and acquisitions or
decentralized structures, which inhibit data
transparency and prevent companies from using
levers like data bundling to improve purchasing
output. Using case studies, we will demonstrate a
reliable way to produce clear, accurate and
dependable data as a basis for making strategic
decisions, and will specifically explain the
algorithms and rules-based approach (with no fuzzy
logic) to clean more than 99% of data.
You will learn:
Why most organizations struggle in small
data quality
About potential solutions for producing
reliable and clean data

Services Procurement for the Next Generation
TBA / Allegis Global Solutions The world of work has changed and your services
procurement spend is screaming to be managed.
Due to the rapid growth in the contingent
workforce, it is critical for both cost saving and
compliance initiatives to be managed efficiently.
Building a holistic talent landscape while gaining a
better understanding of how work actually gets
done are just two examples of how to achieve this.
Join this session if you are a category manager or
have the responsibility for indirect spend and leave
with next generation best practices on how to
effectively manage your organization's services
procurement spend.
You will learn:
How to build a holistic talent landscape
while gaining more insight into how work
gets done
How to make informed decisions on the
most effective and efficient ways of
delivering labor to your organization
The RFP is Dead: Long Live the Request for
Value (RFV)
TBA / Coupa In a time where everything is being delivered as a
service, it is increasingly difficult to evaluate
partners with the same legacy RFP process. Instead,
organizations should shift to a Request for Value
model, which is an outcome-based approach that
focuses on business needs. In this case, the sourcing
organization will start with the value proposition
then work backwards, identifying the best partner
to achieve the needs of the business. The features
and functions you evaluate in an RFP shouldn't be
the focus of an evaluation, but rather the tools that
allow you to get to value.

How to evaluate partners using value as
your focus

Adapting Today's Legal Function to Meet
Tomorrow's Needs
EY The legal function of any business is unique with
specific nuances and must be approached in a
careful, well thought out manner. Legal services are
largely specialized or personalized and are an
atypical trade of technical legal expertise,
interpersonal dynamics, risk and money. EY
approaches legal transformation with a two-
pronged methodology featuring both a sourcing
event and an organization redesign to drive savings
and adoption. The benefits of this approach
include cost savings, increased compliance,
increased legal coverage and improved visibility
into both spend and volumes.

Transforming the Talent Supply Chain with Self-
Sourcing
TBA / MBO Partners The way we work is rapidly evolving…and so is the
way enterprises procure talent. Traditional methods
of having a preferred list of vendors that recruit and
place contingent labor is not only inefficient but no
longer cost effective. Today's professional talent
have choices in not only which companies they
want to work with but also how they want to
engage. As job search technologies have changed
from the early days of job boards to today's niche
freelancer management systems, likewise
candidates have taken more control of finding their
right position, right now. Understanding this
changing dynamic will allow you to transform not
only how you procure talent but also how you can
significantly drive down costs in your talent supply
chain by self-sourcing independent talent.
You will learn:
Market trends and projections
How industry leaders are responding
How highly skilled talent view their
opportunity pipeline
How to transform your talent supply chain

governance models have limitations. While they
have contributed to the overall efficiency of
workflow processes, businesses cannot rely
anymore on traditional models that may be
susceptible to subjective analysis and have a
reactive approach. Risk managers often overlook
the power of information that comes from data. This
session will elaborate on how to manage
information and leverage analytics.

Are You Ready for Robots in Procurement?
EdgeVerve Robotic Process Automation (RPA) has become a
buzzword these days and in some cases, robots are
being lauded as the greatest disruptors of the
procurement domain. While the hype is real, very
few organizations have gone into granular details in
defining procurement automation, identifying
procurement processes for automation and
understanding how to calculate a return on
investment in automation. In this session, we will
walk you through some common procurement use
cases that can be easily automated. We will also
discuss how certain key procurement metrics such
as compliance, lead time, efficiency, visibility,

Outsourcing Your Workforce Management
Program: Real Stories of Transformation
Panelists TBA / Compass Rose Advisory Organizations are increasingly outsourcing the
management of contingent labor to a third party
provider. It is not uncommon in today's enterprise
business to spend upwards of half a billion to one-
billion dollars in this category. A number of providers
have built service solutions that help their clients
gain more visibility, control and efficiency in
managing their non-employee workforce. These
solutions have been considered Workforce
Management Solutions or Managed Services
Programs (MSP). With the variety of operating
models, labor categories and technologies to
apply, this can be a confusing landscape for buyers
who need to decide how they are going to bring
their programs to the next level. Using real life case
studies and the most recent SIG research
whitepaper on this subject, this session will discuss
why and when it makes sense to outsource, the
optimal timing for your organization and how to
initiate the transformation.
You will learn:
Guidelines for buyers considering a centrally
managed solution
