Jordanhasinstilledtheidealsofbelief,faithandtrustintoTheCitadelbaseballprogram,andplayersareknownforplaying“TheCitadelWay”–Long,HardandFast.TheCitadelbaseballprogramhasbeenrecognizedforitstenaciouspaceofplayandtremendousdisciplinethatJordansetsforthintheeverydayrigorsofpracticeandthroughouttheseason.

Overthepast23seasons,TheCitadelhasaveragedmorethan33winsaseasonincluding43 in 2010, just three shy of the school record. On March 31, 2010, the Bulldogs blanked CharlestonSouthern5-0togiveJordanhis642ndcareerwinandmovehimpastChalPortasthewinningestcoachinschoolhistory.

A 1979 graduate of The Citadel, Jordan has led the Bulldogs to seven SoCon tournament championships and berths in the NCAA Regionals (1994-95, 1998-99, 2001, 2004 and 2010) whiletheteamhasalsocapturedfiveregularseasonconferencecrowns.TheCitadelhasanincrediblemarkof60-29(.674)intheSoContournamentandwonthetitlesixtimeswithoutsufferingaloss.

TheCitadelhaswonagameinfourofitssevenappearancesintheNCAAtournamentunderJordan, most recently a 7-2 victory over Virginia Tech in the opening round of the 2010 regional in Columbia, S.C.

Attheconclusionofthe2010season,JordanreceivedtheSoConCoachoftheYearAwardforthefourthtimeinhiscareerfollowinghisselectionin1995,1999and2002.Inadditiontothe43-winseason,theBulldogsalsowon41gamesin1999andhavecapturedatleast31victoriesinallbutfivecampaignswithJordanatthehelm.

ThesuccessenjoyedbytheBulldogsunderJordanhasbeenreflectedinthenumberofplayersTheCitadelhassenttoprofessionalbaseball.BeginningwithGettysGlazein1992,atotalof34playershavebeenselectedintheMLBDraft,withDallasMcPherson,currentassistantcoachBrittReamesandChrisMcGuinessreaching“TheShow.”

JordanwasnamedTheCitadel’sheadcoachonJan.14,1992,becomingthefifthmantoholdthatpositionintheprogram’smodern-dayhistory(beginningin1954).HewasselectedtoreplaceChalPort,hisformercollegeheadcoach,whentheHallofFamerannouncedhisretirementin1991aftera27-yearrun.

Jordanreceivedhisbachelor’sdegreeinphysicaleducationfromTheCitadelin1979andamaster’sdegreeineducationin1987.HeletteredasapitcherfortheBulldogsfrom1976-79andwonanAce(Pitching)AwardandwasamemberofaSoConchampionshipsquadhissenior season.
