The seven home runs marks the most in the game this season for the Panthers as Joseph Duncan and Jimmy Govern hit two home runs each, while Matt Albert, Nicholas McCormick and Frankie Perrone belted one each. • Jimmy Govern also finished the game with eight RBIs in yesterday’s win over UIS at Coaches Stadium. The eight RBIs marked the first time a Panthers drove in six or more runs in a game since Brant Valach drove in seven runs during the 2015 season. Govern also extended his hitting streak to 12 games.
• Matt Albert raised his total to 11 home runs this season as the junior transfer leads the team and is ranked third in the OVC in the category.
• Eastern Illinois baseball will take to the road for a three-game OVC series at Belmont this weekend. The series will move up a day and consist of a single game on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Belmont enters the weekend at 14-17 overall and 9-6 in the conference.
• Jake Haberer will get the ball on Thursday for the Panthers. Haberer will be making his 10th appearance and fifth start of the season. Michael McCormick is in line to start for the Panthers on Friday. McCormick will be making his ninth appearance of the season, all of which have been starts. At this time, EIU has not named a starter for the series finale on Saturday.
• Nick Egli leads the Belmont offense through their first 31 games of the season. Egli is batting .380 (38-for-100) with 14 doubles, two triples, six home runs, 23 RBIs and 23 rus scored.
• Belmont will go with right-handed pitcher Tyler Vaughn on Thursday. Vaughn enters the contest with a record of 2-4 and an ERA of 5.72 in 50.1 innings pitched. Dylan King will get the nod for Belmont on Friday. King sports a record of 2-4 on the bump and an ERA of 4.44 in 46.2 innings pitched. Connor Etheridge is in line to start in the series finale for Belmont. Etheridge holds a record of 3-0 and an ERA of 5.12 in 38.2 innings pitched.
• Following their three-game conference series at Belmont this weekend, EIU will travel to Butler for a non-conference contest against the Bulldogs on Tuesday.
• For only the second time in conference history, the Ohio Valley Conference will expand their end-of-season Conference Tournament to an eight-team field beginning the 2017 season. The last time the conference tournament was an eight-team field was during the 1996 season. The OVC Tournament will also take place at a new location this season. The new host site for the OVC Tournament will be Choccolocco Park in Oxford, Alabama.
