HAPPY THANKSGIVING! Welcome to the 29th Annual CenturyLink Turkey Day 5K Minneapolis presented by Life Time.

We are honored that you have chosen to share your holiday with us, and have an incredible event in store for you. Please take a moment to read through the information within this Guide to ensure your event experience is as enjoyable as possible.

Event day offers a myriad of options to help you and the family kick off the holiday the right way, including our 5K, 5K Youth, and Kids K races. The event also offers our holiday inspired Turkey Day Tailgate Family Festival filled with games and fun for your entire family. NEW this year, we will have timing for all athletes, start corrals with paces, a finisher medal and overall & age group awards.

In 2016, we raised over $15,000 and collected more than eight tons of food to help Second Harvest Heartland provide 61,717 to those Minnesotans who do not know from where their next meal will come.

This year, we challenge you, our runners, to help us grow those numbers via these three simple steps:

1. Make an online donation during registration

2. Bring two non-perishable food items to Race Day Packet Pick Up. If you bring 5 food items or more you’ll receive a $5 coupon to Cowboy Jacks.

Life Time would like to send a special thank you to the City of Minneapolis, and the various City agencies that make this race possible, and to the 9,000 participants, their families and friends and to our volunteers, sponsors and charities.

RACE DAY PACKET PICK UP / REGISTRATION: Thursday Nov. 23rd, 2017Race Day Packet Pick up and Registration is available race morning in the Target Center level 100 Concourse from 6:00am-7:30am Please access the Target Center from the new skyway entrance which is close to Parking Ramp A. Due to Target Center Security there will be NO ACCESS AFTER 7:30AM into the Target Center. Please Note:

• All participants must show a current photo ID.

• Participants may pick up for friends or family, however the friend’s ID or confirmation email must be presented at Packet Pick Up.

• Please complete the emergency contact information on the back of the bib.

• Bibs must be worn on the front of your running shirt or jacket. The bib number MUST be visible during the run. Do not cut, fold, or alter the bib.

• New registrations will be available at Packet Pick Up, so bring your friends!

ConductThe Turkey Day Run is a family-friendly event. Unsportsmanlike conduct during any portion of the race will not be tolerated and will result in disqualification.

Each athlete is asked to bring at least two canned food items to Packet Pick Up to be donated to the Second Harvest Heartland.

Restroom FacilitiesPortable toilets will be available near the Start Line/Finish Line, throughout the Family Festival and on course near the Stone Arch Bridge.

HeadphonesHeadphones, iPods or any personal audio devices are permitted but not recommended. Participants wishing to listen to headphones should keep the volume set on low to remain aware of the surroundings and hear any safety alerts.

Lost & FoundLost and Found items should be turned in or claimed at the Volunteer Check-In tent located in the Family Festival. Unclaimed items will be relocated to the Life Time warehouse. Items remaining after 30 days will be donated to a local charity.

COURSE DETAILS:The CenturyLink Turkey Day 5K Minneapolis starts near the Life Time Athletic Target Center and offers up close views of City Hall, US Bank Stadium, the Guthrie Theater, Gold Medal Park and the Mighty Mississippi River.

Start on North 4th Street, Turn left on Portland Avenue, turn right on South 2nd Street, turn left of 11th Avenue South, turn left onto West River Parkway, turn left on North 4th Avenue, turn left on North 1st Street, turn right on 1st Avenue North to the finish line.

Strollers are allowed, but MUST line up behind individual runners and walkers in the final corral. Music players with headphones are allowed, but please make sure you can hear around you for safety.

Start Corral 1 - 3 is located on 4th Street between 1st and Hennepin.

Start Corral 1: 6-7 min mile or less. NO WALKERS/ STROLLERS

Start Corral 2: 8 min mile or less. NO WALKERS/ STROLLERS

Start Corral 4 is located on 4th Street between 4th and 5th Street.

KIDS CAREENTRANCE

KIDS CAREKids Care runs from 7am to 10am at Life Time Target Center. The enrance to the Life Time Target center is through the lobby of the Target Center. You can pre-register here or pay race morning. Admission is $5 (cash or check only race day) per child, and at least one parent/legal guardian must be registered in the Turkey Day Run Minneapolis. All children must be toilet trained. THIS WILL SELL OUT, LIMITED SPOTS AVAILABLE.

Children ages 3 to 8 years old will enjoy the Kids Care featuring fun fitness activities, plus their very indoor Turkey Day Kids Obstacle Course. Each child will receive a Turkey Day Run T-shirt (arrive early to ensure their shirt size.) Kid race starts will only be distributed the morning of the race.

AWARDSOverall awards will be given to the top three male and female Finishers. Overall awards will be announced at 9:45am at our awards ceremony located at the Turkey Day Tailgate Stage. Additional awards will be given to the top three men and women in each of the following age groups:

* Age Group Awards can be picked up from the results tent.

POST-RACE FESTIVITIES:There will be games and hot beverages located off of N 1st Ave in the Family Carnival area in the Butler Square Parking Lot

Post-race athlete snacks are located in the Target Center garage at the South entrance of the Target Center on the corner of 7th St S and N 1st Ave. Athletes MUST have their race bibs on for entrance into the garage.

FINISHER MEDALSNEW this year, we will be giving out finisher medals to all registered athletes who cross the Finish Line. In order to receive a medal, athletes must have their race bib on their front outer layer and visable for our volunteers to see.

RESULTS AND PHOTOS: Good Luck Athletes! All athletes will be timed and 2017 results/photos can be found here after the race. Chronotrack Photography will be on site to photograph the race, which are provided FREE of charge courtesy of Athlinks. Finisher backdrops will be available at the Butler Parking Lot. Photographers will tag photos of athletes whose bib numbers are clearly visible. Please allow up to 48 hours after the event for photos to be uploaded. Results can be found online at turkeyday-5k.com or onsite at the Results tent in the Turkey Day Tailgate.

TRANSPORTATION AND PARKING:The 29th Annual CenturyLink Turkey Day 5K Minneapolis starts and finishes near the Life Time Target Center, located in the Target Center in Downtown Minneapolis.

When coming down to the 29th Annual CenturyLink Turkey Day 5K Minneapolis, there are three tips people should remember to minimize delays and maximize their enjoyment of the event.

1. Plan ahead - Visit targetcenter.com to learn more about all your transportation choices.

2. ALL STREET PARKING METERS ARE FREE FOR HOLIDAY PARKING. There are also parking lots and ramps throughout downtown within a short walk. The ABC and Hawthorne Ramps adjacent to Target Center are great options.

3. Consider transit and bicycling - Target Center is an extremely transit- and bicycle- friendly facility, and it’s easy to get there by light rail, commuter train, bus or bicycle. Please be aware that public transit may be impacted by the holiday schedule. Visit metrotransit.org for scheduling information. Bicyclists are reminded to use headlights and taillights when conditions warrant.

Taking Metro Transit:

Northstar’s Target Field Station, adjacent to the Minnesota Twins Ballpark, can provide a critical connection for runners including Hiawatha Light Rail service to the airport and Mall of America, as well as bus service from the nearby 5th Street Transit Center. Please be aware some commuter lines may be running on a holiday schedule. Check metrotransit.org for scheduling information.

VOLUNTEER:Please remember to thank the volunteers. The race wouldn’t be possible without the help of these generous people. There are still volunteer opportunites available, so please ask friends or family to help make the race a continued success!

SECOND HARVESTThe CenturyLink Turkey Day 5K Minneapolis continues to join forces with Second Harvest Heartland, one of the nation’s largest, most efficient and innovative food banks. Bring five food items or more on race day and you’ll receive a $5 coupon to Cowboy Jacks. Donations will be collected on 1st Avenue across from the Butler Square Parking Lot. LifeTime will match all ONLINE donations up to $10,000.

FAQsQ: What do I need bring to pick up my bib? A: Please present your photo ID and/or your email confirmation at Packet Pick Up.

Q: Can I pick up bibs for a friend or family member? A: Yes, you must bring a copy of their photo ID and/or their email confirmation.

Q: Can I register on race day? A: Yes, registration will be available on Race Day .

Q: Can I exchange my t-shirt? A: You can exchange on event day. Shirt exchange will take place at our Turkey Day Marking Tent in the Finish Festival. Exchanges only available while supplies last.

Q: Will the race be timed? A: Yes, every runner will be timed. Your packet includes a B-tag timing chip, already affixed to your bib.

Q: Will there be awards? A: Yes, overall awards will be given to the top three male and female finishers. We will also be giving out age group awards.

Q: Will there be any road closures? A: Yes, please review the course map.
