ITE’S NEW CERTIFICATE OF COMPETENCY COURSES FOR SKILLSFUTURE SERIES About CoC Courses & SkillsFuture SeriesTheCertificateofCompetency(CoC)isanewformalITEcertificatetocatertoworkingadultsseekingshort,industry-relevanttrainingforcareerprogression/transitionortokeepabreastofnewskillsets.
The CoC will be awarded to courses offered under the national SkillsFuture Series. TheSkillsFutureSeriescomprisesaseriesofshortandmodularcoursesfocusingoneightemergingareas - Cybersecurity, DataAnalytics, Entrepreneurship, Finance, Tech-Enabled Services,DigitalMedia,AdvancedManufacturing,andUrbanSolutions.
ITEandtheSingaporeInstituteofTechnologyareboththeleadtrainingprovidersforUrban Solutions.ITEwillalsoofferrelevantCoCcoursesinsupportoftheothersectors.
DurationThe duration of CoC courses ranges from 20 to 60 hours, including assessment.
Entry RequirementIn general, there is no entry requirement for CoC courses. In some cases, applicants may be advisedtopossesspre-requisiteworkknowledgeorexperienceinrelevantareas.
Award of CertificateTheCoCwillbeawardedtocourseparticipantswhohaveattainedatleast75%attendanceand passed the assessment.
Funding and SubsidySingapore Citizens / Singapore Permanent Residents (SC/SPRs) are eligible for trainingsubsidyof70%ofthecoursefee.Thefollowingenhancedfundingschemesalsoapply:- Mid-CareerEnhancedSubsidy(MCES)scheme:90%coursefeesubsidyforSCsaged40
andabove;and- WorkfareTrainingSupport(WTS)scheme:95%coursefeesubsidyforSCsaged35and
above,andearning$2000orlesspermonth
SC/SPRswhorepeatacourseandforeignerswithvalidworkpasswillpaythefullfee.
EmployerswhosponsorworkersfortrainingunderMCESorWTSwillenjoyenhancedcoursefee and absentee payroll funding. Theymay submit their claims to SkillsFuture Singapore(SSG)viatheirSkillsConnectaccount.
IntakeThereare4intakesyearlyinJanuary,April,JulyandOctober.SelectedCoCcourseswillbeoffered at each intake.

ITE CET CERTIFICATION SYSTEMTheITECETCertificationSystemcomprisesfivecertificationsasfollows:
• Specialist Nitec for training courses that require Higher Nitec/Nitec in Services/Technology or Higher Nitec/Nitecqualificationsasanentryrequirement;
• Higher National ITE Certificate (Higher Nitec) in Services/Technology for trainingcoursesthatrequireGCE‘O’withpre-requisitesasanentryrequirement;
• National ITE Certificate (Nitec)inServices/Technologyfortrainingcoursesthatrequire
completionofGCE‘N’orGCE‘O’asanentryrequirement;and
• ITE Skills Certificate (ISC) for training courses that require completion of primary educationasanentryrequirement;and
• ITE Certificate of Competency (CoC)forbite-sizedtrainingcoursesthatdonotrequireformalqualificationforadmission.

ITE TRAINING SYSTEM SEMESTER-BASED CREDIT TRAINING SYSTEM FOR CET COURSESCETcoursesareconductedonaSemester-basedCreditSystemofTraining(SCT).InSCT,coursesarestructuredandofferedasindividualmoduleswherecreditsareassignedtoeachmodule,basedontraininghoursandeffort.Amoduleisaself-containedunitofstudy,coveringselectedtopicsofasubjectarea.Dependingonthedemand,notallthemodulesintheCETcourseswillbeofferedineachintake.Wherethemodulesareofferedandthereisinsufficientenrolment,theclasseswillbecancelledandafullrefundwillbegiventotheaffectedstudents.
A student can enroll for the modules according to his training needs. Each module is to be completedwithina6-monthterm.
ASSESSMENT AND EXAMINATIONSAssessmentforeachmodulewillbebasedonthefollowingmodes:
• In-Course assessment• End-of-Module examination
Generally,thepassmarkforeachmoduleis50%(orothermarksasdeterminedbythecourse)andisbasedontheweightedaggregatescoreofthein-courseassessmentsandend-of-moduleexamination.Theweightageforin-courseassessmentsandend-of-moduleexaminationvariesfor each module.
IN-COURSE ASSESSMENTIn-courseassessmentsareintendedtogiverecognitiontothecontinuouslearningofstudentsin studying the module. In-course assessments encompass different modes of assessments suchasclass test,writtenassignment,phase test,practicalassignment, roleplay,portfolioassignment,projectandoralpresentation.Thenumberofin-courseassessmentsvariesfromcoursetocourseandmaybecompletedindividuallyoringroups.
Besideshavingtoattainaminimumscoretopassthemoduleasdeterminedbythecourse,students are also required to pass all critical skills stipulated for the module.
END-OF-MODULE EXAMINATIONEnd-of-moduleexaminationisasummativetestingofcompetenciescoveredinthemodule.Itistoassesshowwellstudentscanintegratethevariouscompetenciesandknowledgeacquiredin the module.
MINIMUM ATTENDANCE RATEStudentsmustachieveaminimumof80%moduleattendanceratetobeeligibletositfortheend-of-moduleexamination.Studentswhodidnotsatisfythemoduleattendanceratewillbedebarredforthemoduleanddeemedtohavefailedthemodule.
CREDITSWhenstudentspassedamodule,theywillearncreditsofthemodule.

GRADE POINT AVERAGETheGradePointAverage(GPA)representsastudent’scurrentstandinginthecourseofstudy.Itistheratioofthetotalgradepointsearnedtothetotalcreditsattemptedtodate.ThefinalGPAscoreatthepointofgraduationdeterminestheoverallperformanceofthestudentinthecourse of study.

IF YOU FAIL A MODULEStudentswhofailamodulewillberequiredtorepeatthemodule.Studentsarenotallowedtorepeatthemodulethattheyhavepassedtogetabettergrade. Studentsarealloweduptothe14thweek*ofcoursestartdatetowithdrawfromthemoduletheyenrolled.Thereafter,studentswhodonotcompletethemodulewillbedeemedashavingattemptedandfailedthemodule.ThisfailedmodulewillbeaccountedintheGPA.
RELEASE OF EXAMINATION RESULTSThe date of the release of examination results is posted on the ITE Home Page at the end ofeachterm.StudentscanviewtheirexaminationresultsviaITEStudentPortalorSMS(ifstudentshavesubscribedforSMSservices)fromthedateofthereleaseofexaminationresults.
AStatementofResultswillalsobeissuedtothestudents.TheStatementofResultsshowsthegradesandcreditsearnedinallthemodulesthatthestudentshavetakeninthatterm,aswellastheircurrentandcumulativeGPA.
CERTIFICATIONAModuleCertificateforaHigher NitecinServices/TechnologyorNitecinServices/Technologycourseofstudywillbeawarded for themodule(s) thatastudentpassed inanexaminationseries.Studentswhomeetthecertificationrequirementsofcourseofstudyinthesamemodeoftrainingwithin6yearsfromthefirstexamination,maybeawardedtheHigher NitecinServices/Technology or NitecinServices/TechnologyorISCfullcertificateandanacademictranscript.
StudentsshouldseekadvicefromtheDepartmentoftheCollegeofferingtheCETcourse,onthemodulesthatneedtobecompleted,toqualifyforafullcertificate.

APPLICATION FOR CERTIFIED STATEMENT, STATEMENT OF RESULTS OR ACADEMIC TRANSCRIPTStudentsmayapplyforaCertifiedStatement(noreplacementoforiginalcertificate)oracopyoftheStatementofResultsorAcademicTranscriptusingtheprescribedapplicationformwithpaymentof$10pertypeofstatementrequested,atITECustomer&VisitorCentre.
COLLECTION OF CERTIFICATESGraduatesandstudentswillbeinformedintheStatementofResultstocollecttheircertificatefromtheAdministrationOffice/Customer&VisitorCentreoftheircollegeofstudyduringofficehoursorat theCollegeGraduationCeremonyasadvisedby theirCollege.Certificatesnotcollectedwithin 1 year from the date of issue,will be destroyed andwill not be re-issued.PleaserefertoITEWebsiteforthetelephonenumbersandofficehoursoftheAdministrationOffice/Customer&VisitorCentre. CERTIFICATE OF MERITCertificateofMerit(COM)isgenerallyawardedtothetop5%ofthegraduatesfromacourse.Graduatesmusthavepassedallmodulesatthefirstattemptwithinnormalcoursedurationandhaveachievedoutstandingperformanceintheircourseofstudy,withacumulativeGPAof3.5orabove,atthepointofgraduation.
COURSE MEDALTheCourseMedalsareawardedtotheoutstandingCOMholdersineachcourse.ThenumberofCourseMedalsawardedforeachcourseisbasedonthenumberofgraduatesofthecourse,subjecttoamaximumof3medalspercourse.
Graduates will be awarded Gold, Silver or Bronze Course Medal, based on their overallperformance in their course of study and other contributions.

e-LEARNING e-LEARNING AND ITS BENEFITSe-Learningaimstoenablestudents tohavemoreflexibility in ‘when’and ‘where’ they learnthrough the use of technology.Studentsmay also participate in learning activities such asgroupdiscussions,attemptonline testsandquizzes tocheck theirprogressor reviewwhattheyhavelearned. Under e-Learning, the Theory hours will be scheduled into face-to-face and self-directedlearning(SDL)sessions.
• During the face-to-face sessions, the lecturer will be present in class to guide thestudents’learning.
• DuringtheSDLsessions,studentswillaccessonlinematerialsontheirownusingITE’smyConnexionsystemandanyotherlearningresourcesprovidedbythelecturer.Therewillbenoclassroomlessons.Studentsmayemailtheirlecturersiftheyneedhelp.
Toextendthebenefitsofe-learningtostudents,SDLsessionsareincorporatedforallHigher Nitec and Nitec modules.
REQUIREMENTS OF e-LEARNING Studentsneed tohave Internetaccess inorder toaccessmyConnexion. IfstudentsdonothaveaccesstotheInternet,self-accessroomswouldbemadeavailableattheCollege.Yourlecturerwillinformyouoftheschedulewhenthetermstarts.
ATTENDANCE COMPUTATIONSDLhoursareincludedinthetotalattendancehourstodeterminestudents’eligibilitytositfortheend-of-moduleexamination.However,SDLhoursarenotclaimableunderSSG’sAbsenteePayroll funding.
ACCESS TO WI-FI SERVICE StudentsmayaccessWi-FiservicewhileonITEcampus.TologintotheWi-Fiservice,simplygotoyourITEStudentPortalaccountathttps://myportal.ite.edu.sg and click on "myEmail" to obtainyourloginIDandpassword.

MODULE EXEMPTION Studentscanapplyforexemptionfromoneormoremodulesinacourseofstudy,basedontheirrelevantpriorlearningacquiredfromITEorotherrecognisedinstitutions.
MODULE EXEMPTION BASED ON NON-ITE CERTIFICATIONS Thenumberofmodulestobegrantedexemptionbasedonrelevantpriorlearningacquiredfromotherrecognisedinstitutions,shallnotexceed50%ofthetotalcreditsrequiredforcertificationofthecourse.Forexample,foracoursethatrequires72creditsforcertification,maximummoduleexemption(s)willnotexceed36credits.
ForWSQholders,thenumberofmoduleexemption(s)grantedshallnotexceed75%ofthetotalcreditsrequiredforcertificationofthecourse.
EVALUATION CRITERIA Applicantswillneedtoproduceevidenceoftheirpriorlearning.Applicationswillbeevaluatedbasedon:
• Certifiedlearningacquiredisstillrelevantandcurrent;
• Relevantworkexperienceacquiredfromlocalcompanies,ifany;and
• Aone-offpracticaltesttobetakenbyapplicants,ifdeemednecessaryatthediscretionof ITE.
APPLICATION RULES Tobeeligibletoapplyformoduleexemption,applicantsmustobservethefollowingrules:
• ApplicantsaretoapplyformoduleexemptionafterregisteringforaCETcourseofstudyand beforethecoursestarts.Youwillnotbeabletoapplyformoduleexemptionafterthecourse has begun.
• Applicants should not apply for the same module exemption at different colleges.Unsuccessfulapplicantsmayre-applyforexemptionforthesamemodule,iftheyhaveacquiredadditionalrelevantlearningand/orqualification(s)duringthecourseofstudy.
HOW TO APPLY?Application formodule exemptionmust be submitted to the applicants’Customer&VisitorCentre, beforethestartofthemoduletraining.Takethefollowingsteps:
• Downloadtheapplicationformfromwww.ite.edu.sg/wps/portal/pts.hn.admission(Higher Nitec)orwww.ite.edu.sg/wps/portal/pts.ni.admission(Nitec / ISC)orobtainasetfromthe Customer & Visitor Centre of their college of study.

ACADEMIC REGULATIONSEXAMINATION REGULATIONSAllstudentstakingexaminationsoftheInstituteofTechnicalEducation(ITE)mustcomplywiththefollowingrules.Studentswhofailtoobserveanyoftheserulesmaybedisqualifiedfromthe examinations.
Examination ScheduleStudents are responsible for presenting themselves for examination on the date and timeshown in theexaminationschedule,and reportat least20minutesbefore theexaminationtime.
Before Start of the ExaminationOnlystudentswhohaveregisteredfortheexaminations,arepermittedtoentertheexaminationcentre.
Studentsmust bring with them their photo ID (e.g. NRIC,Work or Dependant’s Pass) foridentification. International students whose Employment Pass or Work Pass have expiredbefore the examination, can seek approval from their Section Head to use Passport foridentificationinstead.ThestudentsmuststillwritetheirWorkorDependant’sPassnumberontheanswerscripts.
StudentsaretoplacetheirphotoIDontheirdesksthroughouttheexaminationforverificationbyInvigilators.Iftheidentityofthestudentisindoubt,Invigilatorsmaytakeaphotographofthestudentforseparateverification.
Studentsshallbeliabletoexpulsionfromtheexaminationcentreiftheiridentificationdocumentsdo not belong to them.
Studentsmustbeproperlyattiredwhentheyappearfortheexamination.Otherwise,theymaybe barred from the examination.
Students in theexaminationcentrearenotallowedtopossessbooks,documents,pictures,notesandanyunauthorisedmaterialsotherthanthoseprovidedbytheexaminationcentre.Electronic and communication devices (e.g. mobile phones, cameras, tablets, smart wristwatches/glasses,andpenswithimagecapturingcapabilities)thatarecapableofdisplayingvisualorverbal informationarealsonotallowed.Anystudent found tobe inpossessionofsuchmaterialsordevices,areconsideredasdishonestandliabletothesamepenaltyasthosedetectedfordishonestyduringexaminations.Ifcommunicationdevicesareleftatthefrontorbackoftheexaminationroom,theymustbeswitchedoff.ITEwillnotberesponsibleforanyloss of personal belongings.
Studentsarenotallowedtoborrowstationeryandmathematical instrumentssuchasrulersand calculators, from other students during examination.
Studentsarepermitted touseonlynon-programmableelectroniccalculators thataresilent.Calculators thatgiveout sound,needexternalpowersupplyor transmit signalsarestrictlyprohibited.Calculatorsmustnotbeusedfortheretrievalofstoragedata,textorinstructionsorfor the graphical representation of functions and data.

Forreasonofabsencethatcannotbeknownbeforehand,studentsmustsubmittheirapplicationswithinthenext two working days from the date of examination. Infectious Diseases and Hospitalised StudentsStudentswhoaresufferingfromanyinfectiousdisease(e.g.chickenpox,SARS,H1N1)arenot allowed to sit for examination in their usual examination centre. Arrangement for a hospitalised candidatetositforexaminationwillbeconsideredonacase-by-casebasis.

Major Train Service DisruptionIn the event ofmajor train service disruption, students should stillmake their way to theirexaminationcentres.Studentsmaybeallowedtotakeexaminationswithfulldurationgiveniftheyarrivebeforetheendoftheexaminationandprovidednootherstudentshavelefttheexaminationcentre.Otherwise,studentsmaybeallowedtotakemake-upexaminations.
APPEALS REGULATIONStudentsmayappealtoreviewtheirmoduleresults,iftheyhavereasonstobelievethatthemodulegradeawardedforaparticularmoduleshouldhavebeenbetter.AppealsmustbemadebeforetheclosingdateshownontheITEWebsite.Lateappealswillnotbeentertained.
Appealsmustbemadeonprescribed formswithpaymentofadepositof$20 (inclusiveofGST)permoduleatanyITECustomer&VisitorCentre.Iftheappealresultsinachangeofthemodulegrade,thedepositwillberefunded.
StudentswillbeinformedinwritingofITE’sdecisionontheappeal.ThedecisionofITEfortheappealisfinal.

GETTING A PLACE IN ITEAGE CRITERIONApplicants must be at least 18 years old as at 1 January of intake year.

The GE ProgrammeoffersawiderangeofsubjectsfromSecondaryOneNormal(Academic)toGCE‘N’andGCE‘O’levels.Generally,classesrunfromMarchtoOctobereachyear,andlessonsareheldonceaweekforeachsubject.
ENTRANCE TESTFor skills courses, applicants can also register and sit for an Entrance Test conducted by ITE at afeeof$10(inclusiveof7%GST).TheEntranceTest(ofabout1hour40minutesduration)isavailableonlineforwalk-inapplicantsatanyITECustomer&VisitorCentre.Thetestresultisknownonthesamedayofthetest.Thereisnoneedtopre-registerforthetest.

WitheffectfromApril2018,theannualMOEBursaryquantumis$140.Tobeeligibleforthebursary,adultlearners:
• MustbeSingaporeCitizenswhoarepursuingNitecinServices/TechnologyandHigher NitecinServices/TechnologymodulesatITEandpayingsubsidisedfees;
• Shouldhaveagrossmonthlyhouseholdincome(GHI)1of≤$9,000oragrossmonthlyhouseholdpercapitaincome(PCI)2of≤$2,250;
• MustnothavebeenawardedtheMOEBursaryforthepastyear;and
