Islamic principles are the principles of Islamic law in the activities of cooperative efforts by
the fatwa issued by the National Sharia Board of the Indonesian Scholar Council (DSN -
MUI).

In line with the development of the Islamic economicconcept in Indonesia, cooperatives in the 1980s grew up withthe Islamic Cooperative pattern like Salman ITB Bandung, RidhoGusti in Jakarta and cooperatives in the Islamic boarding school.
In the 1990s the Ministry of Cooperative and SMEs ofIndonesia hand in hand with Bank Muamalat Indonesia andPinbuk develop Syariah Business Savings and Loans patternthrough P2KER program that evolved into Sharia Revolving Fund.Meet the aspirations of the people in developing BMT, KUKMMinistry issued Decree 91/2004 on Islamic Financial ServicesBusiness by Cooperatives (KJKS / UJKS) reinforced with otherMinisterial Decree in 2007 on surveillance, health assessment,management of operational standards / procedures.
In Government Deregulation Policy Package I, MinistryKUKM issue some sweets among others Regulation No. 14 and15 2015 which regulates the Accounting and Business Savingsand Loans and Islamic Financing by the Cooperatives. Chewingthrough the activities of BMT back strengthened both in termsof Islamic accounting, sharia supervisory board and the presencewealth activities that no longer an option but an integral part ofKSPPS / USPPS Cooperative.

The business activities of savings and loans and Islamicfinancing based on Regulation No. 16/2015 includesbusiness savings, loan and Islamic financing, and maalactivities in order to empower micro-entrepreneursmember/prospective members and the surroundingcommunity cooperatives.
The business activities of savings and loans and Islamicfinancing obtained a license from the Ministry ofCooperatives and SMEs or service in charge of cooperativesand SMEs in the Province/Regency/City. While businessactivity maal license obtained under applicable legislationgoverning ZISWAF.
In the implementation, the Ministry of Cooperativesand SMEs facilitate cooperative partnership with Zakat LAZas Partner business and cooperative as nazir waqf moneylisted in Indonesian Waqf Board. Up to December 2015,there were 214 cooperatives have partnered as MPZ of LAZDompet Dhuafa and Baitul maal Muamalat and 103cooperatives registered as nazir of waqf money inIndonesian Waqf Board.
