There are three cover options- two have clip art to color and this one pictured can be used by students to 1) add important symbols as the story goes as sort of a mind map, or 2) design their own covers for the story.
Fun Fact about E.B. White
Year Charlotte’s Web was published
Students can use the biography in the back of their book to find a fun fact and the copyright in the front to fill in the publishing date. It also could be fun to find a biography of E.B. White online. These go in the middle section, top left.

Story Map: Cut out side A and glue the bottom to the page. Then put glue in the small areas that read “GLUE.” Cut out side B shapes. Place the matching shapes from side B on top. Cut in between the shapes to make flaps. This belongs in the bottom middle of the middle section.

Inside left top middle: Students should write connections between the novel and themselves, another book, and something in the outside world. Model good connections. For example, we will develop some solid connections as a whole class. “Fern is like me” is not a good connection. “Fern is like me because we both like to take care of animals and befriend them” is a GREAT connection. Use another text to model connections so your students don’t just piggyback on the whole class ideas

Design a web for WilburThese two pages will need to be copied double-
sided. To have the barn appear on the outside flap, the barn picture is at the bottom, right side up. The
directions and web are upside down.

Character CardsDirections: These cards come with two options- a side pocket or a label for a library card pocket. Library card pockets can be found inexpensively on Amazon, and they reduce the amount of assembly your students will need to do. The important thing is that either way, your students will have the opportunity to draw 3 characters (or color if you take that option) and write a character trait with story evidence for them to use. This pocket belongs on the left inside flap, at the bottom.

Library card pockets can be found inexpensively on Amazon, and they reduce the amount of assembly your students will need to do. The important thing is that either way, your students will have the opportunity to find three words- either a noun, verb, & adjective OR 3 nouns, and then they will create their own sentence and picture for each one. This pocket belongs on the right inside flap, at the bottom.
