Dunhuang is well-known for its spectacular array of Buddhist cave temples. The Mogao Grottoes, for
example, is an extensive cave temple complex declared a UNESCO world heritage site. This presentation will provide a vivid display of some stunning examples of
the artistic and architectural treasures in these caves. It will also explore how they bear testimony to the
religious, cultural and commercial exchanges along the trade routes linking East and West, from the fourth to
the fourteenth century CE.
