It’s a small world after all!
Or more like a small and big world at the same time. At least that’s how I feel whenever
I attend APCO’s Annual Conference & Expo.
Small because you realize that you are not alone in your profession. It’s comforting to be
surrounded by peers and learn that they have similar goals, struggles and triumphs. It’s
not every day that you can meet someone from a different county, state or even country
that understands your job and the challenges of our industry.
Big because every year I attend the conference I realize how big public safety
communications is. It’s not just the telecommunicator, the training officer, the first
responder, the radio manufacturer or government agencies. It’s all of that and more
working together to keep our communities safe and respond when there is a crisis.
And there is only one place where you have the opportunity to see all the worlds come
together.
APCO 2016, taking place August 14-17 in Orlando, is four days of education, networking,
learning, and sharing. I invite you to join me, and hope that you will come away with the
same feelings I have.
I look forward to seeing you in Orlando this summer!
