A Christian Ministry in the National Parks embodies and extends the ministry of Jesus Christ through worship, witness and the development of Christian leaders. When we send young persons to the parks, we ask them to create a community centered on Jesus that gives a freedom filled life to those who partici-pate. As one general manager of a concession-aire said to me, “ACMNP creates community that gives life rather than destroys life.” When people come to the park, we respond to the deep hunger for many to belong to something as they set off on the adventure of living in a national or state park. We provide a gathering of people who have discovered the amazing news that in Christ, they can be free to live an abundant life that lets them thrive at their work and with their friends. God’s creation, the parks, provides a place where Christian community takes place and allows people to confront the deepest questions of life.

I am inspired by the Christian communi-ty our ministry creates as it fulfills our vision to develop Christian leaders throughout the national and state parks for the sake of the world. God is asking us to increase our pres-ence in the parks and we are embracing the task. 2016 was another important year for ACMNP. We increased the number of minis-try team members who served in 35 national and state parks by 31% to 298 ministry team members. We started a ministry team in Bad-lands National Park this year. The impact trips were a significant addition to our program as we led two groups in Zion National Park this year; one from Cascade Christian High School and another from Purdue University. Financial-ly, 2016 was our strongest year in 65 years. We raised over 950k, excluding investment gains, and held our expenses to 834k. People

are resonating with the renewed vision of the ministry to develop Christian leaders for the world through the national and state parks. We can’t thank you enough for your support and encouragement.

The 2016 Centennial celebration of the National Parks took place last year as well as the 65th anniversary of A Christian Ministry in the National Parks. I’m particular grateful for our founders this year as Warren and Nancy Ost didn’t go into traditional ministry but took the risk in the wilderness as they provided Christian ministry in these places of beauty and wonder. We carry the mission forward into 2017 and are extremely grateful for the renewed support and gifts to help us fulfill the vision to develop Christian leaders in the national and state parks for the sake of the world. additional programming opportunities. Enlist 150 team members to grow through our Leadership Assessment tool. Empower and scatter 10 ministry team leaders through our highly selective Advanced
