Design and Purpose of the UPHSP DESIGN: The design of the University Preparatory High School Program is a school within
a school learning community separated from the comprehensive high school. University Prep students are a separate cohort with their own teachers, leader,
schedule and curriculum plan. Current Campus Enrollment: 310 students
PURPOSE:The purpose of the University Preparatory High School Program is to provide students an opportunity to earn up to 60 college hours while also getting their high school diploma. This is achieved through the following:
offering rigorous instruction and accelerated courses, providing academic and social support services to help students
succeed, Ensuring college readiness reducing barriers to college access, and providing dual credit classes and books at no cost to students.

Targeted Population(TEA Requirements to be a designated ECHS )
First priority goes to students that are: Students who are at risk as defined by the Public Education
Information Management System (PIEMS) Desire to be first generation college graduates Students who are considered economically disadvantaged English Language Learners
110 students will be selected this year. If more than 110 students apply, students that meet one or more criteria from above will be considered with priority.
What if I don’t meet any of the criteria? Can I still apply?
YESAfter we have selected students from the target population, if there are any open slots available, your child’s name will go into a lottery drawing for one of those open slots. Example: Recruiting 110 students for the 9th grade cohort
105 students selected from the targeted populationNeed 5 more students to complete the cohort
I have 22 students that do not qualify for the program. Those 22 students will be entered into the blind lottery for a chance at one of the five open slots. 19
