Clefts ntenc s:

A cleft sentence is one in which a simpler sentence is `cleft' (split) into two parts, a `focus' and the rest. There are two types, illustrated by (1-3):

Original: orderedcoffee.(1) It was coffee that we ordered. (`It-cleft') (2) What we ordered was coffee. (`Wh-cleft') (3) Coffee was what we ordered. (`Wh-cleft')

These sentences all have (more or less) the same meaning as the original.
