Who we are

Structure

• European trade association for the promotion of cogeneration

• Established in 1993 and is headquartered in Brussels

• Secretariat of 7 staff

We have a vision

• Through the promotion of cogeneration, to grow an industry which changes the

way Europe provides heat and electricity for a sustainable future

Our approach is

• We promote the wider use of cogeneration as part of Europe‘s sustainable

energy strategy

• We participate in the EU legislative process and liaise with key actors in the

European Commission and European Parliament

• We work closely together with other stakeholders

• Relations with Brussels-based and sector media/press (EurActiv, ENDS Europe,

Decentralised Energy, Cogeneration Channel)

• Established supply chain for the technology

• Awareness about the technology across the supply chain

• Stable and predictable heat or/and cooling demand for heating or process

use on site of at least 4,000 hours per year.

• Appropriate energy market conditions – higher electricity price compared

to the fuel price (ratio of at least 2:1).

• Support mechanisms in place, if energy market conditions request

additional support: feed-in, certificates, tax relief, subsidies etc.

• Availability of fuel on the location: natural gas, wood biomass, biogas, LPG

etc.

• Proper place for installation of CHP unit: room, connections, chimney etc.

• Financial resources: own, loans, energy contracting, subsidies etc.

• Net costs per month €34,-

• Upfront payment (€2000,-) fully covered by

subsidy

• After 12 years all savings are for enduser,

an average dwelling: €1100,-

technologies for SMEs will require:

• Strong partnerships between the

manufacturers and the actors in the supply

chain, incl. the gas sector

• Higher customer awareness through more

widespread/mainstream campaigns relying

on success stories

• Empowering businesses to take up CHP

technologies through smart financing &
