The Bears went on a 98-yard scoring drive late in the third quarter to take a 33-30 lead, but Point answered on special teams, taking the first punt of the fourth quarter to the house for what would be the game-winning touchdown. • Bethel will be looking forward to trying its luck against NAIA competition after taking a 72- 10 loss at NCAA Div. I FCS Tennessee-Martin last Thursday. The Skyhawks outgained Bethel 496-204, including limittng the Wildcats to just 59 yards passing in the blowout win. Bethel’s best performer in the loss was running back Alexza Nesbitt with 79 net yards rushing on 10 carries, including a long run of 54 yards with one touchdown. Quarterback Kelley Sellers finished 9 of 19 for 59 yards with one interception. • Quan Weaver did a little bit of everything for UPIKE against Point, he rushed for 142 yards and two touchdowns while also hauling in three passes for 88 yards and another score. His recieivng touchdown came on a short screen pass that he took 63 yards downfield for six. Weaver currently ranks 17th in the NAIA in rushing yards per game at 104 and is 11th nationally in total scoring with 24 points. • UPIKE in the national statistics rankings: Pass defense per game (9th, 138 yds.), punt return yards per attempt (9th, 19 yds.), fourth-down conversion percentage (10th, 83.3%), total offense allowed per game (21st, 310.3 yds.), rushing offense per game (32nd, 186 yds.). • Sani Warren has been accurate in 2015, but is lacking touchdown receptions. Too many drops near the end zone had led to the low touchdown number. Warren had two sure touchdowns dropped against Point and at least one more in the season-opening win against Bluefield. Despite those miscues, Warren is completing 52.6 percent of his passes while throwing for 488 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions. RJ. Rosemond Jr., got his first playing time of the season last Saturday, completing 2 of 5 passes for 25 yards and rushing for 41 yards on eight carries. • Arthur Williams and Camron Parsley have been a scary two-headed attack at linebacker for the Bears so far this seaosn, leading the team with 24 anf 23 tackles, respectively. They will be looked upon in a big way at Bethel to help slow the Wildcats’ efficient rushing attack. Williams leads the way with 12 solo stops and Parsley has added 10. When Bethel decides to go through the air, UPIKE has three different players with an intercpetion to look out for, including Dario Bennett, Dem- trius Taylor and Derek Harris. 2015 UPIKE Bears Football
