“Aven-tures” by Disney in New York City

The “Aven-ture” starts when guests jump into our Transphere and are called upon as S.H.I.E.L.D. Agents to help the Avengers defeat their enemies! Inspired by the Rube Goldberg Machine, our Transphere bounces from place to place being picked up by drones, racing on rails, and even just rolling around the city. As soon as guests select their desired destination, a mission is dynamically assigned so guests will always have a unique experience! Agent Coulson then debriefs them and assigns them to an Avenger who needs their help saving New York City. Enemies are attacking civilians around the city’s well-known and beloved landmarks. The Transphere is programmed with Artificial Intelligence so that guests can focus on tracking down clues for their mission while the Transphere avoids obstacles. During the mission, Augmented Reality superimposes mission details, targets, and helpful information about the city’s landmarks over the transparent screens of the Transphere. Upon arriving at their destination and completing their mission, guests can choose a new mission or just rent out a Transphere to explore New York by land, sea, or sky!

Guest Experience

Story behind the design

Our story takes place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe within New York City. Agent Coulson recruits new S.H.I.E.L.D. Agents (our guests) at Transphere Stations across the major landmarks in the city. He assigns them a mission based on their next destination to help a specific Avenger defeat an enemy. In our custom Aven-ture, guests choose the Empire State Building as their destination. They are assigned to Iron Man to help defeat the Chitauri who came through the wormhole created by the Tesseract. Our Agents work together; some hold off the Chitauri while others launch a missile to help Iron Man close the wormhole above the city. Upon defeating the Chitauri, Agent Fury congratulates guests and awards them their official Agent Certification!

The guests will begin their Aven-ture as soon as they sit in a Transphere. They can choose where they want to start their journey by going to any Transphere Station in New York City. Each route from station to station provides the guest with a unique experience as transportation methods are chosen based on origin and destination. While fighting the battle, the transparent screens in the Transphere will assist the guest by providing useful information in context to their surroundings using Augmented Reality. They will have a physical control panel attached to their seats that will allow them to select weapons, chair orientation, central disk rotation, and more. The Transphere itself will run on a pre-determined route by Artificial Intelligence that adjusts based on traffic conditions and weather. By the end of their mission, the guests will have defeated the enemy, received S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent Certification, and arrived at the next Transphere Station. At this point, they can “transfer” to the next Transphere or exit the station and explore the city.
