Welcometospring!I’malwaysexcitedforspringtomakeitsappearanceafterenduringthelong,dark,andoftendrearydaysofwinter.Eachdaybringsalittlemoresunshine.Ourparksshedtheirwintercoatsasplantsstartpoppingoutofthehardbrowngroundandthegrassslowlystartsturninggreen. Ourspringbrochurehasmanynewandexcitingprogramsandspecialeventsforthefamily.DatesyouwillwanttomarkyourcalendarforincludeTheEasterEggExtravaganzaandBreakfastwithBunnyonMarch28th;theeverpopularDogDayAfternoononMay17th;andthePerry-DurhamFarmsteadOpenHouseonMay9th.Earlysummerbringstwonewerbutoutstandingeventsforfamilies–ArtintheParkonJune6thandFamilyFunNightonJune13th.Whatagreatkickofftosummerthatwillbe!Pleasecheckoutourspecialneedspage.Theparkdistrictisexcitedthatweareabletooffertheseprogramsandspecialeventsgearedtothesefamilies.ThespecialneedsEasterEggHuntwillbeinitsthirdyearandhasproventobeverywellattended! Mayfindsuscelebratingourvolunteersoftheparkdistrict.Theyreallyaretheunsungheroesofourcommunity!Welookforwardtoourannualvolunteerrecognitioneventeveryyear.Thisisthetimewealsodesignateourvolunteeroftheyear!Wecouldnotdoallthespecialeventswithoutthe200+volunteersthatwillinglygiveusthegiftoftheirtime.Theytrulyaretheheartbeatofourparkdistrict. Thisyearwearecelebratingthe25thbirthdayoftheExplorationStation!Throughouttheyearwewillbecelebratingthismilestonewithdifferentspecialevents.ButonJuly28thwewillhaveabigdayplannedforthecommunitytohelpcelebratetheactualbirthday.Staytunedfordetailsofthisexcitingevent. 3-4 year old programThe3-4thematicbasedprogramisdesignedforoneofachild’sfirstexperiencesina“school”setting.Ourprogramwillstresssocialization,cooperativeplay,finemotorskills,sharingandfollowingdirections,andthebeginningsofletterandnamerecognition.Children must be 3 by September 1, 2015.

4-5 year old programThe4-5phonicsbasedcurriculumwillhelpdeveloptheacademicandsocialskillsneededforenteringkindergarteninareaschooldistricts.Ourprogramwillstressthedevelopmentofindependenceandacademicskillsthroughlearningcenters,structuredactivities,socialization,cooperativeplay,dramaticplayandsharing.Children must be 4 by September 1, 2015.

EarlyLearningStation

Early Learning Station Preschool Programs2015 - 2016 SESSIONSThe Early Learning Station program promotes an environment that fosters critical thinking, problem solving skills, and social development taught through alphabet and thematic units. The experiences are both educational and recreational, which aid in social, physical, intellectual and emotional growth. Qualified experienced teachers instruct the programs. Illinois Early Learning Standards are applied to curriculum lessons. Sign up early, classes are limited to allow for a low student-teacher ratio. Children must be toilet independent prior to the first day of class. Sessions are divided according to age.

A specially designed hands - on curriculum includes: • Phonics & Reading • Art & Craft Projects • Math & Science Projects • Educational Field Trips • Computer Centers • Music & Movement

Each preschool staff member has been carefully selected based on their: qualifications, experience and personality. we are very proud of our wonderful staff!

Unique features include: • Low student to teacher ratio • Full gymnasium and spacious playground • Acres of parkland at the Perry Farm Park and the Nature Center at willowhaven • The Exploration Station® . . . a Children’s Museum

PreSchool Summer Camps For those ages 2-3 years. Check out our New camp at the Exploration Station “Explore and

Learn” starting in June. Look for more information in our summer brochure.

Camp & LearnFOR AgES 3-6 YEARSJust in time for summer fun! Enjoy a day at the Recreation Station playing games, singing songs and learning about new things. Learn and have fun this summer!! Mini lessons and art projects are done daily. This class can include field trips and many outdoor activities. Please bring a sack lunch. Children must be toilet independent prior to the first day of class.

Pick up a parent packet at the time of registration. Registrations must be in by 2:00p on the previous day in order to participate in the programs or with approval from a supervisor.
