Bread Line and Stone Soup Cafe are delighted to welcome you to our highly anticipated fifth annual Stone Soup
Soup Off. As you will find, this event showcases some of the most thoughtful, imaginative, and delicious experi-
ences that Alaska has to offer.
Stone Soup Cafe is a place where anyone who is hungry or food-insecure in Fairbanks is welcome for a hot meal
and a warm greeting in a safe environment, every single weekday of the year. It is altogether fitting that the
Soup Off is our signature fundraising event, for the stone soup story tells of many people coming together to
share what they can to create nourishment for the entire community.
This year, many of Interior Alaska’s finest restaurants—along with K & L Distributors, HooDoo
Brewing Company, Diving Duck Coffee, and Alaska Coffee Roasting Company—share their finest offerings
for your tasting pleasure. The Westmark Hotel and Conference Center has provided an inviting setting in
which to enjoy them, while Alaska Airlines and dozens of others have pitched in with diverse and exciting auction which to enjoy them, while Alaska Airlines and dozens of others have pitched in with diverse and exciting auction
and raffle items , from airline tickets to delectable home-baked goodies. Many members of our community have
come together to create a memorable evening to encourage you to share, as they have, with our most vulnerable
neighbors—the hungry and homeless. We hope you enjoy your evening with us.
Thank you for being here to help us fulfill our mission—feeding people and enriching lives. May the generosity
of our participants nourish you and yours throughout the year.

This year, Bread Line is thrilled to introduce Stone's Throw, a program designed to move people from hardship to
self-sufficiency, by leveraging the power of food. This effort is based on Seattle’s 20+ year FareStart model, cur-
rently replicated through the Catalyst Kitchens Network in over 60 such US and UK projects. Each of these pro-
grams is based on a three-pronged approach: Feeding People, Training People, and developing a revenue-generat-
ing, self-sustaining Enterprise. Our brand-new Fairbanks edition arises from our Board of Directors’ recognition
of the potential to expand our organization’s impact. Stone's Throw is designed to provide means for those disadvan
taged men and women facing barriers to employment to move from dependence to greater self-sufficiency. The
first cohort of trainees will start in March 2015.
