May International Holidays

Labour Day is celebrated in many countries around the world on May 1st. In Syria, the holiday celebrates the achievements of workers throughout the country. St. George's Day is celebrated May 6th in Bosnia. People prepare various cakes, savory dishes, and homemade bread. It is the tradition of many families to gather together to eat grains and drink red wine. Victory Day is celebrated May 9th-10th in Kazakhstan. Charity events are held throughout the month in honor of the holiday. The holiday symbolizes the protection of the Motherland and the people from enemies. Africa Day is celebrated May 25th in Namibia. The holiday is celebrated with a ceremony and food in different towns. Speeches are given and traditional dances are performed to show they're proud to be African.

Laila Lazaar is a Special Projects Manager at SCOLA. She received her Management Degree from Cambridge College MA, and has over ten years of management and leadership experience. She is a native of North Africa and speaks fluent Arabic and French.
