Athletes in Action at IU is all about community and discipleship with the goal of having a true Christ follower on every team so that every athlete has an opportunity to truly know someone who follows Christ.
Most of the student athletes we work with are not on an athletic scholarship and are not able to work because of their commitment to their sport and studies. Bryantsville Hunger Relief Project exists to help provide food to the “poorest of the poor” people in third world countries or disaster-ravaged countries by supplying high-protein corn (higher in protein than regular corn) for distribution by various Christian relief agencies. Hollace and Ila Sherwood started the project in 1985. Since then thousands of bags have been sent in the name of Jesus, to destina-tions all over the world. (One bag/bushel will provide 60-80 servings of high protein corn).

IFM’s vision is to reach the world for Christ through International Students. IFM seeks to educate, encourage, train, help, and involve local churches in ministering to inter-nationals. Our goal is to evangelize international studens/scholars and their families. As some of them come to faith, IFM brings them into the fellowship of local churches, helping them mature in their relationship with Christ. Located on Kirkwood in the heart of Bloomington, The Pourhouse Café serves the local and global commu-nities with fi nancial support from the tip jar. Over $55,000 has gone out to Sherwood Oaks Global Outreach partners and local agencies from the PHC so far! They also serve great coffee, delicious food, and provide a safe place where friendships can grow. Wheeler Mission Ministries, Inc. (for-merly Backstreet Missions, Inc.) is a not- for-profi t organization dedicated to providing Christ-centered services to homeless men, women, and chil-dren of our community. Purpose/Mission Youth for Christ Southern Hills exists to reach young people (teenagers 12-19 yrs old) in southern Indiana. YFC works together with the local church and other like-minded partners to raise up lifelong followers of Jesus. YFC has been going strong in the area since 1989, reaching out to youth through ever-changing methods with a never changing message of the hope of Jesus.

Myanmar Indigenous Evangelism is directed by Abraham and Dimno Thang, Burmese nationals who are committed to take the Gospel to Burmese immigrants who have relo-cated around Fort Wayne, Indiana. Their mission outreach includes Sun-day services, weekly Bible studies, youth meetings, and many personal services that assist new residents from Myanmar (formerly Burma) as they settle into life in a new and different place. Restoration House Ministries part-ners with the church to transform the spiritual landscape of New England and beyond with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. This mission is being accomplished by planting churches in all six New England states, from Portland, ME, to Boston, MA, to Hartford, CT, and in between. Impact Ministry Group (IMG) seeks to ignite individuals, churches and business leaders with purpose in the planting of New Testament Christian Churches across Canada, Europe, and Russian speaking areas. Impact Canada (a Divi-sion of IMG) is starting a church in Canada’s east coast in Moncton, New Brunswick, and it is anticipated to launch next Fall 2015. Sherwood Oaks is helping bring transformation to Mathare Valley slum in Nairobi, Kenya! One Child Matters believes that a holistic approach – ministering to all of a child’s needs, not just a select few – is the most effective method of promoting child development. Mission to Unreached Peoples is a broadly interdenominational agency. Their focus is on the unreached peoples of the world who have not heard the gospel of Jesus Christ, specifi cally those who live in the 10/40 window in Asia, Europe and beyond.

Latin American Ministries, directed by Erick and Sira Gutierrtez of Nica-ragua, is located near Murcia, Spain. The region is rich in agriculture and fruit farms. Many Arabic-speaking Muslims from North Africa immigrate there each year to fi nd jobs. LAM’s ministry includes teaching Spanish to Arabic-speakers using Biblical texts. They also lead an internation-al church that is attended by some Spaniards and many internationals. Aziz Zaghzagh is a Moroccan Christian convert from Islam. He has a burning desire to see other Arabic-speaking Muslims come to know and follow Jesus. He and his wife, Ingrid, and their 4 children are about the business of befriending Muslims and serving their multicul-tural community using the gifts that God has granted them.
