In 2014 Hawker Park Primary began their 1:1 device program, enabling students from years 2 -6 the opportunity to purchase and integrate their iPad or laptop device throughout the curriculum. With technology integrated through the whole curriculum we seek to equip students with the knowledge and skills to develop into life-long learners. Our Business Plan Our Business Plan, developed in consultation with our School Board and staff, is to direct and guide the school for the next three years. It is a framework to measure our progress and performance ensuring that we are achieving our goals. The business plan forms part of a suite of documents including our Operational Plans, Workforce Plan and with direct reference to the National Quality Standard. Accountability Framework and the National Quality Standard The Education Department’s Accountability Framework (2008) focuses on Learning (students), Teaching (staff), Leadership, Resources and Relationships that, together, form the enablers leading to successful students. Complementing the Accountability Framework, is the National Quality Standard (NQS). The NQS focuses on excellence in educational program and practices; healthy and safe children; adaptable, supportive and inclusive physical environment; high professional staff standards and staffing arrangements; respectful and equitable relationships with children; collaborative partnerships with families and communities; and effective leadership and service management. These two documents form the basis of our Business Plan. Teaching and Learning Beliefs Staff at Hawker Park Primary School believe that every child can learn if

• given the opportunity to learn • learning is connected and challenging • there is opportunity for action and reflection • students are motivated and learning is purposeful • inclusivity and difference is embraced • learning offers scope for independence and collaboration and • learning takes place in a supportive environment

Assessment Beliefs A Whole School Assessment Plan is developed collaboratively, implemented and reviewed. We believe that assessment is an integral part of teaching and learning. It is valid, educative, explicit, fair, informative and meets a specific purpose. To assess our effectiveness in assisting our students to learn we place importance on research and evidence to inform and improve our professional practice. We believe in teacher judgment and provide opportunities for common assessment tasks to be administered across year levels with teachers moderating results. Together with whole school summative and system wide results, data is analysed to inform progress and future planning.
