#AAPG AllAmericanProspectsGame.com @usahockey 2015 CCM/USA HOCKEY ALL-AMERICAN PROSPECTS GAME FIRST NIAGARA CENTER • BUFFALO, NEW YORK • THURSDAY, SEPT. 24, 2015 • The fourth annual CCM/USA Hockey All-American Prospects Game features 42 top American-born players eligible for the 2016 NHL Entry Draft. • Some 150 NHL scouts are in attendance at tonight’s game. • Twenty-two players in tonight’s game appear on the 2015-16 NHL Central Scouting Futures List, which highlights players that have potential to be selected in the first three rounds of the draft. NCAA HOCKEY Twenty-six players are verbally committed to NCAA programs. Additionally, defenseman Charlie McAvoy is a freshman at Boston University, while forwards Luke Kunin and Tage Thompson are first-year play- ers at the University of Wisconsin and the University of Connecticut, respectively. UNITED STATES HOCKEY LEAGUE Thirty-three players have developmental roots in the USHL. As the top junior league in the United States, the USHL prepares players for NCAA Division I hockey as well as careers in the NHL. USA HOCKEY’S NATIONAL TEAM DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM A total of 19 players in the AAPG have played or current- ly play for USA Hockey’s National Team Development Program in Plymouth, Michigan. The full-time program is composed of two squads, the U.S. National Under-18 and Under-17 Teams, which compete in the USHL, while also facing international and collegiate competition. YOUTH NATIONAL CHAMPIONS Thirteen of the players at the AAPG have participated in the Toyota/USA Hockey National Championships. Ad- ditionally, two players have claimed a national champi- onship. Mitch Eliot helped Honeybaked claim the 2013 USA Hockey Tier I Youth National Championship at the 14 and Under level. A year later, Ryan Lindgren and Shattuck St. Mary won the 2014 USA Hockey 18 and Under National Championship. WORLD CUP OF HOCKEY 2016 On Monday, USA Hockey announced that John Tor- torella (Boston, Mass.), who ranks first on the NHL’s all-time wins list among American-born coaches, will serve as head coach of Team USA for the 2016 World Cup of Hockey. The U.S. management group for the 2016 World Cup of Hockey includes Dean Lombardi (Ludlow, Mass./L.A. Kings) as general manager; Paul Holmgren (St. Paul, Minn./Philadelphia Flyers) as assistant general manag- er; Brian Burke (Edina, Minn./Calgary Flames) as se- nior advisor; and Jim Johannson (Colorado Springs, Colo./USA Hockey) as director of hockey operations. THREE FINALISTS NAMED FOR 2018 IIHF WORLD JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIP USA Hockey announced on Sept. 15 that it has nar- rowed the candidate cities vying to host the 2018 Inter- national Ice Hockey Federation World Junior Champi- onship to Buffalo, New York; Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; and St. Louis, Missouri. Officials from USA Hockey conducted their official site visit in Buffalo earlier this week and will visit the other two finalist sites in Octo- ber. A final decision is expected by the end of the year. USA HOCKEY ARENA USA Hockey’s National Team Development Program will embark on its inaugural season at USA Hockey Arena in Plymouth, Michigan. The season will include 37 home games, including the U.S. National Under-18 Team’s home opener on Oct. 9, and the U.S. Nation- al Under-17 Team’s debut the weekend of Oct. 16-17.
