We support open communication. We should be able to talk to the girls, and they should be able to talk to us. Same goes with the parents.

Ms. Warren is very busy, and a lot of problems can be resolved by effective communication with the girls and parents.

To be successful this year, we have to be a team

Everyone will be treated equally

Everyone needs to be a valuable member of the team, pulling their own weight. Everyone needs to be a piece of the puzzle

10

Page 11: 2015-2016 Season Coach Brandi Cook and Coach Macaulay Poole 1.

Tumbling ◦ Everyone is expected to be in an outside tumbling

class and dedicated to increasing their skills◦ Expected to Maintain tumbling skills thrown at

Tryouts. We will tumble EVERYDAY. Tuesdays with JV, and the

other days with us. This will build muscle around ankles, wrist and the repetition will make our tumbling stronger. All of this = LESS INJURIES!

11

Page 12: 2015-2016 Season Coach Brandi Cook and Coach Macaulay Poole 1.

We will NOT tumble on the spring floor◦ That is an all-star apparatus, not school cheer

apparatus◦ We will compete on flat mat all year◦ We will occasionally tumble on basketball court◦ We can and will spot anything needed to be

warmed–up; however, we do not want cheerleaders dependent on us to tumble.

12

Page 13: 2015-2016 Season Coach Brandi Cook and Coach Macaulay Poole 1.

If you are injured, you are injured. Safety first.

All cheerleaders are recommended to see Koby Smith or Dan Newman (Union Athletic trainers).

We need doctor’s notes to excuse you from practice or participation.

If you are too injured to do X, then you are too injured to do Y.

If you sit out from practice then you DO NOT cheer sidelines at the game that week or cheer at pep rally.

13

Page 14: 2015-2016 Season Coach Brandi Cook and Coach Macaulay Poole 1.

Practice is mandatory

If you are sick, call us the night BEFORE practice. If you call us before, during, or after practice, it won’t be excused.

If you miss practice, you cannot cheer at the game or pep rally that week.

If you are not at school for at least half a day, you cannot cheer at the game that day.

14

Page 15: 2015-2016 Season Coach Brandi Cook and Coach Macaulay Poole 1.

Cheer is a grade. Attendance and participation will be reflected in your grade. Wearing designated practice outfits is considered in the grade as well.

Our Cheer Philosophy – Perfection over Progression.

Safety first – Skills working should match ability (i.e. Have a tuck, want to work fulls)

15

Page 16: 2015-2016 Season Coach Brandi Cook and Coach Macaulay Poole 1.

Girls will be required to participate in weekly skills checks on Mondays

Every cheerleader is required to maintain the skills they had at tryouts

They must also continue to show improvement with their skills

If a cheerleader does not maintain their skills, they could lose their opportunity to be on the competition team.

9th grade cheer= strong basic fundamentals Parents can encourage and help foster

growth in team and cheerleaders OR they can hinder growth in team and cheerleaders

For your children to respect the coaches it HAS to start at home

Safety is ALWAYS our first concern We want to promote excellence in your

Student athlete on the mat, and off. We have high expectations, but we will help

them achieve them every step of the way
