A Message from our LTG:" Hello giraffes! My name is Nanxi Liu and I am so excited to serve you all as Lieutenant Governor. Key Club is the peanut butter to my jelly, the apple to my pie, and the shoes to my laces - basically, Key Club has be-come so integral to my life, and I cannot imagine high school without all the service events, friends, and smiles that come with being in Key Club. Overall, I think the aspect I love the most about Key Club is the fact that it makes so many people's lives better. From volunteering in the community to donating supplies for those who need them, Key Clubbers really make other people happy. However, at the same time, everyone involved in Key Club become happy too - the joy is infectious in the best way."

Hi! My name is Lyndsey Chu and I am cur-rently a sophomore at Rancho Cucamonga High School. What I love most about Key Club is that through this organization, high school students are empowered to show spirit towards service and provide aid that reaches all across the world. To know that you have made a difference in a life other than your own is just indescribable. My hope for the 2015 -2016 term is to see our division become more united and to continue to surpass the goals we set for fundraising for PTP or Eliminate and all other functions that our division encounters.

Hello everyone! I’m Kelsey Atienza a junior, Ayala High School.I honestly never knew the true meaning of serving my com-munity until I joined Key Club. When I joined, I never expected to love this organization as much as I intended to. Key Club has shown me what it really means to help other people out whether it may be locally, someone personally, or to someone across the world. As one Ohana, Key Club all together makes a tremendous impact in the world we live in today. I believe that's why I love Key Club, every day as a member we are a given a chance to make a difference in the world whether it may be big or small. We are called to make a difference, and without a doubt, Key Club has been, is currently, and will con-tinue to make a change in the world, one step at a time.Being appointed in the Division Leadership Team has motivat-ed me even more to continue serving and to influence many others to serve as well. The Division Leadership Team has such dedicated and hardworking individuals that I believe as a whole will succeed in everything we possibly do. Even though the term just began, I can see the love each Division Leader-ship Team member has for serving their division. It brings me joy to see people like me, who constantly enjoy the act of ser-vice, and interacting with our community. Through our hard work, sweat, tears, and whatever comes in our way, this term will be successful in every way.

On April 8th, I was given the opportunity to help coordinate the Rose Bowl Egg Hunt alongside other volunteers. The Rose Bowl Egg Hunt is an annual event that happens on Easter Weekend, in which families can eat breakfast together and then participate in a large Easter egg hunt in accordance to their age groups. In the morning, I assisted in setting up the tables for breakfast and directing guests towards the yummy food! In the afternoon, we helped distribute Easter eggs into the football field in the Rose Bowl stadium. After manically spreading eggs around throughout the field while wearing my silly little bunny ears, I was able to sit back and watch hundreds of kids rush into the field to retrieve the result of the volunteers' hard work. There is no warmer feeling than knowing that you have brought about someone else's hap-piness, whether it be from an act of kindness or a simple smile, a single positive action can brighten up a stranger's day. Seeing little kids smile with satisfaction at all of the candy they had found made me realize how much I love helping others. One of the things that I love to do is to bring joy to others by helping them, which I was able to do at the Rose Bowl Egg Hunt. Community service definitely makes the world go round, and not only does it benefit the well-being of others, but it also allows volunteers such as myself realize the impact that kindness can have on everyone.

The Kiwanis Annual Egg Hunt was a very prosperous event. Upland High KC members volunteered as well as some members of the junior high’s Builder’s Club. The community united to put together a fabulous Easter Egg Hunt for the little ones of the city. The turn-out was great for both children and volunteers. We started to set up and decorate at around 8 in the morning. After finishing our work, we all ate breakfast together on the bleachers—donuts and orange juice, yum! Once everyone had finished eating their food, we played a game called Mafia as an ice-breaker. That game was quite enjoyable too, but really hard to understand if you’re a first timer to play. We got our job done and we did it well and on time and were able to enjoy doing so. My personal favorite part was seeing all of the children come around with their adorable Easter baskets in their hand. They all looked so cute! It was also so fun to watch them find candy! They ran out into the fields immediately and seemed amazed by how much candy they saw. Children and babies of all ages were welcome and so many showed up. Everyone seemed to have a great time and the event was a success.

DCON 2015

Page 9: 2015-2016 CNH Division 15 April Newsletter

DCON has honestly been a wonderful and unforgettable experience. I had so much with my fellow Key Clubbers! At DCON we went to different semi-nars and general sessions! It was a really busy trip, but more importantly fun! The first day was Spirit Attire! We all got dressed in our divisions gear. So that means we got dressed in our giraffe gear! We even painted our faces with face paint! After we got giraffed up, we went to the first seminar of the day. We learned a lot of information about each Key Club. We also got to meet a whole bunch of people from different parts of California, Nevada, and even Hawaii! That night we had our first general session. It was basically a celebration of the first day in DCON and Kiwanis' 100th anniversary!!! It was really exciting we got to watch a whole bunch of great performances. Day 2 of DCON was business formal. We dressed up all fancy and busi-ness-like. I felt like the CEO of a huge corporation! We got to go to Conclave! Conclave is where we gather and listen to the candidates' speeches and vote who becomes the new division officers. It was really inspirational! We had another general session and we got to watch our club members from out school on stage! Joyce Xiong, Andersen Chiang, and Dennis Chen had got-ten scholarships! We also got to watch one of our Vice Presidents, Kalen Chang preform a beautiful song on the piano! After the general session, was Governor's Ball! What a wonderful night that was. We danced and a whole bunch of great memories were made. Also for the people who aren't really into dancing, they went to karaoke and played board games, which my friends and I also went to. Day 3 of DCON was such a bittersweet day. We were sad it was the last day, but we were excited for the day. We dressed up business casual. We had our last general session and it was really anticipating because that’s when the new officers finally get installed! I was very excited to finally get installed! After the general session, DCON was finally over. We were all very sad DCON was over, but we all had a FANTASTIC time! We made so many memories that are unforgettable! I look forward to DCON next year. I hope to make even more memories I will remember for a long time.
