INSTRUMENTAL GENRE

An Instrumental is a musical composition without lyrics and it is interpreted with musical instruments of the four groups: string, wood wind, metal wind and percussion.

We can divide this genre into different types:

-Pure Music: (abstract, absolute music) is music for its own sake, concerned only with structure, melody, harmony, and rhythm.

-Descriptive Music: is a type of instrumental music that carries some extra musical meaning, some “program” of literary idea, legend, scenic description, or personal drama. It is contrasted with so-called absolute, or abstract, music, in which artistic interest is supposedly confined to abstract constructions in sound.
