Popular leader and Renaissance art historian, Elaine Ruffolo, has
been the coordinator of the Field Studies program at Syracuse Uni-
versity for years. Known for her uncanny ability to bring historical
characters, lives and ancient times to life with vignettes of daily
life, Elaine will treat Members and guests to a special tour of Flo-
rence entitled ‘A Walk Through History’. Begin in Piazza della Rep-
publica and discover Florence’s beginnings as part of the Roman
Empire. Walk through the medieval streets and unveil the many
towers that once made up the center of the city. There is no bet-
ter place to understand the rise of the city state of Florence than
emerging from these dark, towered streets into the light open
Piazza Signoria, the seat of the government.

Rocky Ruggiero is originally from Providence, RI. He is a graduate
of the College of the Holy Cross where he majored in Art History
and Pre- Medicine. In 1995 he was awarded a Florence Fellow-
ship by Syracuse University where he continued his art historical
studies at a graduate level. He has lived in Florence for the past
twelve years teaching for various American universities including
Syracuse, Kent. St., Vanderbilt and Boston College. Prof. Rug-
giero specializes in Early Renaissance Architecture, although he
has lectured on subjects ranging from ancient art and architectu-
rethrough the Italian Baroque.
He starred in the recent History Channel series, Engineering an
Empire: Da Vinci World episode as an expert witness, as well as
a PBS program on the architecture of Brunelleschi. He also sha-
res his knowledge and love of Florentine art as an advisory board
member of the non- profit group Friends of Florence which has rai-
sed funds for the restoration of various works of art throughout
the city

militarily involved with all the rest, except Andorra, Bhutan and
Liechtenstein. Christopher Kelly and Stuart Laycock take you on
a global tour of America’s military activity around the world from
the halls of Montezuma to the shores of Tripoli and everywhere
in-between. Whatever your political views this is an extraordinary
and often surprising story. With personal photos, maps and an in-
dex to assist America Invades: How We’ve Invaded or Been Milita-
rily Involved with Almost Every Country on Earth gives us history
as it should be taught--calling out for more!
Christopher Kelly was born in Sacramento California. He earned a
B.A. in Philosophy from U.C. Berkeley in 1981. Mr. Kelly worked for
nearly twenty years in the Television industry mainly on the West
coast. He served as a director and partner in local TV stations in
Seattle and Sacramento. Exiting the TV industry in 1997, Mr. Kelly
has served on numerous company and non-profit boards. He is the
past Chairman of Chyron Corporation (now ChyronHego, ticker:
CHYR) where he remains on the board.
Christopher Kelly has had a lifelong passion for military history.

with Almost Every Country on Earth (2014) is his first book.
Kelly is married to Maria Driano and has three children. He lives in
London and Seattle.

Hailed by the New York Sun for “her prodigious ability” who “im-
mediately established an atmosphere of strength and confiden-
ce,” Natalia Kazaryan commenced her studies of the piano at the
age of six and performed with the Tbilisi State Chamber Orchestra
as a soloist at seven. While studying at the preparatory division
of the Tbilisi Music Conservatory with Alla Nakashidze, she gave
concerts throughout Europe. Upon her arrival in the United Sta-
tes, Natalia began working with Logan Skelton of the University
of Michigan and went on to take bachelors and masters’ degre-
es from the Juilliard School in New York, where she studied under
Jerome Lowenthal and Matti Raekallio. Natalia took top prizes
in numerous international competitions, including the Eastman
Young Artists International Piano Competition, the Kosciuszko
Foundation Chopin Competition, and the Second New York Piano
Competition, which has provided her with concert management.
During her studies, she became the first Juilliard student to partici-
pate in the Carla Bruni-Sarkozy exchange with the Paris Conserva-
toire. In Paris, she studied piano with Michel Béroff and chamber
music with Valérie Aimard. An active chamber musician, she took
part in the Ryoichi Sasakawa Young Leaders Fellowship, dedicated
to collaboration between The Juilliard School, the Paris Conserva-
toire, and the Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien.
Natalia then won both a Fulbright Grant and Harriett Hale Wool-
ley Scholarship to Paris, France. There she continued her studies
under Béroff with a focus on Olivier Messiaen’s Vingt Regards sur
l’enfant Jésus.
Since her move to France, Natalia has been enjoying an active
performing career across Europe. This season, her performances
included such venues as Schloss Mirabell in Salzburg, the Théatre
des Variétés in Monaco, and the Musée Carnavalet and Salle Cor-
tot in Paris. She also participated in the IMS Prussia Cove Ma-
ster Classes in Cornwall, England. In 2012, she was the first prize
winner of Concours FLAME in Paris and the second prize winner of
Concours international de piano d’Ile de France.
Natalia studies at the Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofia un-
der the guidance of Dimitri Bashkirov. At the end of the 2014 aca-
demic year, she received from the hands of Queen Sofia of Spain,
the “Sobresaliente” Award, for Outstanding work and Excellence.

Gloria Reuben is an actress, singer and social activist who, over the
past twenty years, has amassed impressive credentials in televi-
sion, film, theater, and music.
Gloria’s portrayal of Condoleezza Rice in David Hare’s play “Stuff
Happens” (at New York City’s Public Theater) garnered her a Lucil-
le Lortel Best Actress Award.
Gloria’s music career includes a stint as a backup singer for Tina
Turner in 2000, which led to the recording of her solo album, Just
For You, in 2004. She is currently working on a new record.
Gloria is also a committed social activist. As of January 2011, Gloria
is a special advisor on climate change for the Alliance for Climate
Protection, former Vice President Al Gore’s environmental organi-
zation. She is on the Board for the National Wildlife Federation,
and is on the Leadership Council for the Natural Resources Defen-
se Council and Waterkeeper Alliance. She is also on the Leadership
Council for the RFK Center for Justice and Human Rights, and she
serves on the Board for SIECUS: the Sexuality, Information and
Education Council of the United States.
